nobody said this game's 3rd act makes sense.
makes perfect sense. you change the timeline. Jasper is defeated, so mordigan doesn't steal the sword of light. Ergo, calasmos who is prevented from taking his power back from erdwin's lantern due to a powered up mordigan, is able to do so in the 3rd act timeline because mordigan is defeated before taking possession of the sword of light.
The far bigger plot hole in Act 3 is Michelle. All the more if you were honest.
I guess the writers just messed up on that one.
That is the big but somehow convenient plothole, still confusing though.
Anyway, I spent time talking to NPCs at Oct after finding out the Casino is there midway through act3, people complains the Mayor decision turning the MMA into Casino.
Also there is a lot of other minor plotholes, like Hotto Miko, LGBT parade, Mia and some characters not being used by Dark One(while some others are just like act 2).
Act 3 seemingly doesn't acknowledge Michelle's story arc in Act 1 at all. It's as though you never met either her or Kai. The other plot holes you mentioned can be rather easily explained by you getting to all those people early enough before either Mordegon did, or before they could put their plots in Act 2 into action.
Hotto Miko: we miss the whole arc in act 3. We only see the outcome of the arc. In act 2, the arc is resulted by the manipulation of Mordegon. So, assuming the Dark One manipulates the monsters, who is the hero in this arc?
The Pride Parade: As the result of monster manipulation, most of them takes a liking into dancing, but turn out they are into pride parade and suddenly take Sylv as their leader, and the carrier, the suit of Sylv comes out of nowhere.
Mia: she is manipulated by Mordegon in act 2. But she is not manipulated by Dark One in act 3.
Not showing but Jasper spirit travels time with us: Hendrik arc in act 3, the vision of act 2 appears in act 3 and Hendrik wonders where is that coming from(the spirit should have give it to the branch). Hero seems to be surprised by that(and us too). The passage of time applies to the Yggdrasil too, so how can it retain the vision if Jasper doesn't travel tome? If not, so Jasper spirit unknowingly to us, follows us on the flow of time just like Dark One but the game doesn't show that. Jasper in the past shouldn't have the memories of the future, then where is the current spirit of Jasper.
