Does loot reset between Acts?
I scoured the map in Act 1, but it seems that most containers in Act 2 (in the towns at least) the pots and barrels are almost always empty. Should I bother re-breaking everything again?

Depends on your definition of "missable". If you want to loot all possible containers and not miss any, there are missables, and I've made a complete list: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UMR8kDZWWJAwIkBNiJrwgRVy2MtdYbtfjYKmoYWHdrE/edit?usp=sharing

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Except there literally aren't because 2D mode let's you time travel back to any point in the story. It even resets all chests and pots/barrels' loot so you could technically use it to farm seeds/mini medals. Even if you were not to use this feature the entirety of "missables" can either be farmed from lategame enemies or are plain inconsequential to the game as a whole (consumables and slight dialogue changes.). :2016bee:

Wait what? If I switch to 2D mode I can go back to Act 1?

Yes. As far back as your adventure on the Tor with dear old Gemma and Sandy. Be forewarned that you'd have to replay the story though. There are a few points where you could farm specific items without fighting anything, though it is rather tedious to do so. I'd be interested in seeing just how over powered one could get before certain point of the story, though I lack the patience to actually attempt such a thing.

Also of note, any active but unfinished side quests will be reset so you'd need to start them all over again. Completed ones will remain completed however.:2016bee:

This would be great if i didn't hate Tockington with a passion. The 2D mode is so garbage I have no idea how someone can even play it. Slow combat, everything is text based, can't even see current status. I was thinking about it for a second but naaah.

You don't even need to play it in 2D at all though. You simply go to a save point and toggle it on and off. A good chunk of the checkpoints for the aforementioned backtracking are right next to one as well. :2016bee:

Read what my thing says:

Yes, technically nothing is missable because of the “New Game Plus” with 3D/2D mode swapping which resets the chests. And no specific item is forever unobtainable (so you’ll always be able to complete the Item List in Info).

This is a list for specific items/rewards you can’t go back to pick up, for those that truly want to clean out everything.

And there is one permanently missable item, from Tickington. It's called The Champion's Code. Once the quest Mother Knows Best is completed, it's impossible to re-accept it, even with New Game Plus (via mode changing).

But of course, whenever I share my document, there's always some child that goes "hurr durr no missable items" completely missing the point of why I made this.

That's not what I said at all though, I pointed out that everything that's missable is either a consumable or a tiny bit of additional dialogue. Sure that one thing is actually missable but it's not like you even need to do Tickington to enjoy the game. :2016bee:
