Definitive Edition is easier
No kidding. Did the path to Heliodor on both versions. On DE almost always had single-enemy battles. On original I had mostly 2-3 monsters battles.

Graphical downgrade has already been mentioned, but it hit more than what I expected. All the small details that makes the game truly beautiful are gone. The grass is not even moving. Global illumination is awful :(

It's not. It's exactly the same. With the addition of a 2D mode that's actually harder IMO.
Yeah no, that's just RNG son.

Tell that to the groups of 2 slimes, a bunicorn and a cruelcumber that like to murder my full Draconian butt trying to get to level 5.

It's the same exact part of the game as the original, much like the rest of the game barring the new content which is mostly separate from the original game anyway. :2016bee:

Battles seem about the same ( based on the new demo) although not really too difficult so far. If you think it is too easy, then maybe not upgrade items at the forge table and only use for creating new stuff.

The graphics are okay also, even if not as good as the original, and most the lower draw distance is still far in the distance, except maybe some shadows.

The game is easier but not in a way the topic creator mentioned. There were two specific nerfs to two bosses: one early game and one mid game. There was some AI tweeks to the final boss of act 2 that made it easier but statistical wise it's the same as OG.

2D mode is generally harder than 3D because of forced random encounters and the way turn order is carried out. In 2D you input your commands before the round commences while 3D turns act out in order of commands inputted. The rest of the difficulty comes from QoL improvments in XI S, namely every related to the forge.

i cant say anything on this im doing the dragovian trial that makes fights alot harder. see Theres the things in the game that you can pick at the start. Its for people who already played or for people who want more challenges. some are just silly "sometimes the npc will say a lie" others are "you cant wear armor or use shops"
They are called Dragovian trials. One of them is battles are much harder. It makes encounters much harder. if you find the game too easy and you are early on, Id recomend starting over and using those dragovian trials to bump up the challenge

Very good. I will say, the only difficulty nerf I am specifically aware of is the fight with Rab towards the beginning of Act 2.

In OG he's a reasonably difficult fight, he'll create dopplegangers of himself, uses Pearly Gates every few moves and combined they'll deal some good damage (200HP+ easily). You'll have to do Quadraslash 4-5 times to power it up. It might take a couple tries and a bit a strategy.

In DE you only need to use Quadraslash 2/3 times, so the fight is way easier, quicker and (honestly) pretty pathetic in the new version. Very little (if any) strategy required.

I did that fight on Switch last week and it was 6 times. If they really cut it in half here then that's great because it's agony to do on full Draconian. :2016bee:

so far the game plays itself, its somehow amusing as ive set them in auto and run into all kinds of mobs but 3d version lol. It does get easier when you have more companions and gear of course, but i manage to get it upgraded to +3 alot tho whenever i get hands on some, plus some additional grinding. It could change later as im still not that very far into the game i think, leaving gallopolis to face a boss in the sands. well that and i did run into some metal slimes few i managed to defeat for unusual boost to xp. xD Im new to the dq series but thought this one from what i read you could get start with, without any past game story knowledge. Otherwise i like to play them in order
