2d mode for low end pcs?
Thinking of picking this game up since I'm a big RPG fan. I have a laptop that is definitely low end by today's standards (8 gigs RAM, 2.7 GHz) but I was wondering if the game is still playable on a low end machine by just switching to 2d mode. (I feel like it would since it is 16-bit graphics, but still)

Probably? Did you try the demo for the 3D rendering tho? You might be surprised.

it would be easier but compared to the original version this version of the games 3D is easier on the graphics card (probably because they got rid of some bugs) that said, really all you need to do is lower the Res size down to about half and just about all the lag vanishes without to much downgraded graphics.

You can try it. If it doesn't work, and you've played less than 2 hours and had the game less than 2 weeks, you can get a refund

As near as I can tell, you can get 2d mode working reasonably well (30fps) on a low end PC.
You'll need to set the 3d settings, they for some odd reason effect the FPS even though they have no effect on how the 2d graphics look.
So set the resolution to 1080p, then go through and and set all the 3d settings as low as they go. Set the screen percentage as low as it goes if your still not getting at least 30fps. Change to 720p resolution if your still not getting 30fps. Be sure to cap at 30fps unless you find you can get to 60fps.
I really don't understand why the 3d settings should effect how many fps you can get when playing the 2d mode for the game.
