Dragon Quest X Online is fully playable in English
I heard about a couple programs a while back that can translate the game to English.
Someone made a video guide recently to get everything set up so I decided to finally give it a try.

They have Items, monsters, npcs, skills, spells, and pretty much all menus translated and dialog is auto translated through an api that works pretty well.

Here is the video to get started. At 21:50 in the video he gives a little preview of it working.

I just started but it's pretty fun so far. I am excited to finally play a new DQ game.

Just a few things to note after playing for a bit. I would say it's a Dragon Quest game first, mmo second. The trial goes up to i think version 2.3, which is a lot. You get a lot of story for free.

The whole story up to the end of version 5.5 can be played solo if you want. They give you companions or you can hire other players characters while they are offline.

For an mmo, they really kept the Dragon Quest charm and everything still feels like Dragon Quest. I'm having a lot of fun with it.

And with the translations, there really isn't much that isn't translated. I noticed a couple equipment descriptions and that's it. And apparently they are constantly working on it, so every day more is getting done.

If anyone has questions about the game, I'd be happy to answer but keep in mind I'm not very far in comparatively to the amount of content.

Let me know if you decide to give it a try.
One thing I'm expecting after a 100% translation of the game.
Private servers or servers that isn't within Japan to crop up so other players outside of Japan can play together.
Though that would also raise issues with Square-Enix cause I don't think they would like people running servers for the game outside of Japan.

I don't think private servers are ever going to happen. The game isn't popular enough outside of Japan for people to make private servers, but since the IP ban for US was lifted like a year or 2 ago, you don't need a VPN to play from there and also gives you the option to connect the VPN to US instead of Japan.

But the English community has made server 33 the one where they all play so for anyone that decides to play, pick server 33, all the English players are on there. There is like 1000 people in the discord so lots of people to play with if you want.

I just finished up to version 2.3 (the free trial), I had a lot of fun that I think I might actually buy the expansions and sub so I can continue the rest of the story up to 5.5. And version 6 once it's out on Nov 11. Version 6 is adding a pirate class which I would like to try,

Playable with VPN, gonna pass on this and go for the DQXOffline Edition instead which only has Season 1. Though not sure of updates and how censored it would be in it's Chibi state.
