You can still upgrade your car by defeating opponents in head-to-head matches. If you're going for this one, the key is to be aggressive and challenge as many people as you can. At some point you'll probably need to get a bit lucky and defeat a higher-level car.

I remember I won this without being aggressive, in fact I was hiding and avoiding everyone else (you are invisible on the map when you're standing still, so if you just stand in some forest, no one will probably see you until the very end). Then, during the final run, only 2 more players remained. We set for the final destination, and both of them made some mistakes along the way (maybe bumped into trees or something, I don't remember). So I finished first in my Mini :)

Its hardly impossible, the mini is actually pretty good moving through the woods. I did that achievement years ago and recall just staying out of the way until the end and then just making a dash for it. I dont recall it even taking more than a few tries.

Actually it isn't. Once I even won a head to head race in the Mini against a Tier 10 buggy lol. Just roam around the zone border and you should be fine not encountering anyone

Got this achievement by winning multiple duels up to level 9 car, took about 10 hours of attempts in total

I was trying for the other achievment where you have to get into the final round with the level 1 car, but a level 9 car started to chase me and eventually started a duel and i won it :D Then i won the final race as well. Its not hard, most of the players cant go 100m without hitting a tree.

Do it with the starting car, aggressively, don't collect cars, just beat the opponent fast and get the cars from them (I initially didn't even read the achievemnt correct, was trying to beat the match with starting car). Always check the map to see you position relatively to center of the circle so as to be prepared when the race starts. In the last circle area, when 30 s timer starts already accelerate in the direction of the opposite area of the map relative to your circle, easy to discern after you get the jist of it. I only beat Eliminator once and did it as I explained and got most of the achievements except the one with 100 eliminators games and collecting a certain number of car drops which I got later after doing only car collecting and never bothering to win any match.

for the achievement you got to beat others firstly by mini,no car drops
and for challenge purpose it is possible, mini has the agile and power as level four car, plus england has more trees and bumps means more chances than its nissan and bettle brother in mexico

For the achievement, you'll have to play aggressively and be ready to do head-to-heads on players with cars 2+ levels above you. You're going to lose a lot but in time you'll figure out the best routes and how to navigate through some the game's dense areas. The mini is a small car and got decent handling so it is a bit less prone to smashing into a tree.

You can win with a mini for sure, though even with some good knowledge of the mode you still need to hope the other players get hit by a tree or lose control of their high level car. It's a mix of playing aggressively but also luck, don't be afraid to challenge players with cars at a much higher level than you since it is a chance to get a better car sooner to increase your chances of winning. Predict where the finish line would be at the edge of the arena, you can also have a bit of a headstart for roughly 2-3 seconds outside the arena before the final race if you wish.

Well I can confirm that Underdog is possible...twice over in fact. I was playing on my main MS Store save trying for both that and Heads Up. Figured I'd give the pacifist route a try, and I was pretty consistently making it to the final showdown with my level 1 car, but it was no joy after that: way too much open space against high-level cars meant I didn't have a chance. Then one round I wound up in Edinburgh after winning a lucky head-to-head where we both screwed up at points, and of course a level 8 GT-R came down the same street I was on and challenged me. They took a bad route, I followed them instead of trusting my GPS and took the same bad route, I figure I'm cooked...then I come around a corner and they're sitting still plowed into a wall. Either they were being really nice and quit or they disconnected, but either way I scored the win and the achievement. Of course then in the final showdown I was stuck against a level 10 Hoonigan and didn't have a prayer. Can't win 'em all.

The crazy part is that one or two games later I got it legit. I was challenged by a level 7 Panamera going through the woods, and they were ahead of me a bit but plowed into a tree. I snuck by and got the win. That felt like a really great chance at Heads Up, but then I got challenged again and I'm almost certain my opponent used a speed hack, because they came flying out of nowhere right before I was at the goal and beat me.

As was said earlier, you don't have to win with a level 1 car. You can still level up your car by winning head-to-head matches.
