so far I have gotten seven of the 11 endings and all of them have been loses. I am guessing there is only one ending which results in a win? Any tips?

The main story was fairy good! I very liked all side stories too. It was a pity to get rid of the first operatives, sorry, the first agents and exchange them for "better ones". May be each won challenge and battle could give experience to the heroes in order to upgrade them., so you can make champions of the first chaps. Probably the king could be not only the guiding spirit but a hero too?...
