This game is significantly less wild than the first CoC.
I feel you, cause even while I think CoC 2 is a widely better game there's still moments were I find it really sad that there's nothing like becoming a slime or a Naga (or, even better, Drider) and I also (but that's just preferences) sometimes find especially the loosing scenes a bit too tame (but that is 75% repetitiveness, there's just too much similar stuff).
On the other hand the quality of the writing is way better, so, as you say, some wins, some losses.
Not sure if it's of any solace to you but the fact the player's body has to stay humanoid is that in both CoC and Trials in Tainted Space the Devs learned the hard way that it is impossible to include transformations that drastically change how things work for your protagonist due to people not accounting for it when they write scenes. And due to the fact that I have no hard time imagining it is anti-fun and exhausting to write the same scene 2-3 or even more times because of stuff being anatomically nonsensical otherwise I do get why Savin decided to cut those. And that's not even just the sex scenes.
EDIT: I see this isn't by Fen. Interesting. Did they sell the rights?
TiTs is Fen's pet project while Savin runs CoC II. I think the opening splash screen for CoC II actually says it's under license from Fen so that's probably the formal legal situation, but a lot of the same writers & some of the artists work on both or have done previously so there's quite a lot of crossover
For example things like the worms/spirits possesing your genitals/boobs are not here anymore. It's more focused on the actual corruption of the psyche rather than gods and deities. Sure, you will find some of them, but there isn't a heavy focus on it like the first game
The combat is way better now with multiple skills and powers and classes, the inventory slots are a lot more generous now and there's even a quest log. It's a great game ngl
I do miss the "exotic fetishes" but yeah. I recommend it
Only real gripe for me? Probably the most boring and uninspired tentacle writing ever. Don't make me work so hard for it if I can't use them in their full glory.
