I think the devs are from the USA, they might not realize how annoying it is for most people to have to deal with nonstandard measurements.
If the dev post above is accurate then they're waiting until the game is released to go over all the text and implement an option for displaying correct units of measurement.
But if what you're saying is true, then they did implement it for character creation. That's great. And it makes sense, it's the place where it matters the most and all the character creation stuff was all in the same place, so it didn't require hunting obscure references or anything, it was all right there.
So... metric available for character creation, but only after the game is released for random scenes.
I'm OK with that.
Would have probably been easier for them to plan ahead and go with both systems at once, but hindsight is 20/20.
