How to use Soap?

According to the search it has been a while since a proper thread about the topic - so I am starting here a new one to prevent confusion.

I am not asking how to apply soap, please understand me correctly.

What I am asking is: how do you properly use soap? When does it make most sense? When it is not good? Is it even worth if it if you just can get anything cleaned with pure pressure?

And it seems not to work like I imagined either as in applying soap and the areas become easier to clean, is it?

I'm fairly new to the game, but I think it's best for cleaning big areas quickly. Was doing a house and did one side of the roof with just pressure, then decided I'd mess with soap - did most of the other side of the roof in a fraction of the time with some multi-purpose soap. Just had to go in with a pressure nozzle after and do some edging.

Played a bit more with it today and better answer: Soap is amazing at removing graffiti and rust. Stuff you can't usually get out without a ton of elbow grease. Was cleaning a rusty car just now, and the rust just wasn't going away with the heavy duty power washer and 15 degree nozzle, so I used one can of metal cleaner and got most of the rust off the car in one bottle - just had to go around and spot-clean some stuff.
