Hey everyone!

Here's a bunch of the most frequently asked questions about PowerWash Simulator and their answers. This will be constantly updated, so please let us know if there's anything you think should be answered in the replies below! :)

Is there a release date for PowerWash Simulator?

1.0 is out right now!

Will there be crossplay with Xbox/Windows?

Yes, you can play with Steam players with a room code. You will need to enable crossplay before you turn on multiplayer though. For Windows to Xbox, you will be able to play via your friends list.

Will there be more content after 1.0?
Yes! Our main focus is on getting the game out for 1.0 but we'll share future
content plans here in the future, keep tuned! (Since this FAQ we've released the Tomb Raider Special Pack and announced the Midgar Special Pack coming soon)

Will the price change at full launch?

Broadly-speaking, the price will increase to US$24.99 or local equivalents. However, some countries will see proportionally higher rises than others, because in those countries the Early Access price up until 1.0 has been significantly below the local currency equivalent of the standard Early Access price of US$19.99.

Will the career mode story come to an end?

The main career story will come to an end with 1.0. Though, this isn't the end of
stories being told in PowerWash Simulator!

Will progress reset with 1.0?
No, you can continue your current save. Though there may be incentives to
replay but that is optional.

Where is the Update 0.9 Community Jobs?

They are in the Special Jobs section as they are not part of the main story/career mode. Enjoy!

How do I disable rumble?

In steam, click steam, settings, controller settings, general controller settings, select your controller and you can enable/disable rumble. You will need to restart your client.

We will also look to add one into game as soon as we can, thanks for your feedback and sorry for the inconvenience!

What does Early Access mean?

The game was in Steam Early Access, which meant we were still developing the game and people could play early. We got a huge amount of feedback and we think made the game better because of it!

I'm stuck at 99% clean/ can't find the rest of the dirt

Here are a few tips for finding the last dirt, we'll be implementing a better tutorial and listening to feedback on dirt finding through Early Access!

-Use the dirt highlight tool. This tool highlights where the remaining dirt is on the map by flashing it yellow. To use this you can press 'TAB' on a keyboard or 'Right DPAD' on a controller.

-Go to your tablet menu and look at the 'Details' tab in the job section, it can tell you what percentage of each part you have completed to find it. You can also click on these details to highlight the whole object it will flash white until you wash it.

-Use crouch and prone to get under objects and use the ladders/steps to get above objects to check there are no little details left uncleaned.

I can't clean rust/tough dirt!

Rust is best removed with the Prime Vista 3000 Heavy Duty power washer on the red or yellow nozzle. Though rust can also be removed by both the other power washers with the red nozzle.

How do I equip/buy more soap/refill

To equip soap you need to buy the soap nozzle for your power washer. You can then equip it like you would equip other nozzles. You can get to the shop on your tablet with the shopping cart icon in the top right.

Each level gives a set amount of soaps that you can buy from the shop, these accumulate or carry over from each level (new saves will have the full benefit of this) and you can buy from that stockpile at any point from the shop. Once bought you will have a set amount of that cleaner in liters you can use and refill.

To equip the different types of cleaner you can press 3 for the radial menu or E for your inventory.

To refill, the bottle must be empty and you can simply press 'R'.

Is there multiplayer?

Yes, the co-op multiplayer beta is out now as of Update 0.7 with 2-player career co-op and 6-player free play mode.

Is there controller support?

Yes, the game should pick it up automatically, if you go to the settings menu, in controls you can see the button mapping.

Is there a story?

There is a career mode where you a budding power wash business owner will interact with several quirky clients who will lead you to new jobs and grow your enterprise. The game does have an overarching story and this is told mostly through your tablet in text messages and hints throughout the levels. With 1.0, the main career story has a conclusion, be sure to watch after the credits!

Can I stream/make content on the game?

Please do, we love to see content creators playing the game! We also give permission to monetize your streams/videos of PowerWash Simulator gameplay on livestreaming and on-demand platforms. (Such as YouTube, Twitch, FaceBook, TikTok etc.)

Is there an official Discord Server?

Will there be developer streams?

Yes, we stream off of our FuturLab Twitch channel here[www.twitch.tv] every Friday at 3PM GMT!

Is there a home/base in the game?

We see the garage as being a home-type space where you will be doing several odd jobs to further your career within. There is an upgrade to this space later in the game.

Is there an official trailer?

Will there be VR?

We'd love to do a VR version but we'll see how things go with the release!

How do I select a new power washer?

Open the inventory with 'E' on keyboard and mouse or 'up DPad' on a controller. Select the washer you want to use and close the menu.

How do I equip skins?

For clothes, when on the equipment tab where your power washer is (E key) there is a tab at the top called clothing which you can switch between gloves and suit colors. Also, to equip power washer skins, on the same menu where the power washe is, there's a tab in the bottom corner of the box to select skins.

Are there Steam Achievements?

Yes, 40 currently.

Is there some form of challenge mode?

A challenge mode for both timed and water usage is available on some of the levels, we are adding more throughout Early Access.

How many levels are there at the moment?

42 in total - 38 career levels + 4 special missions.

Are there more levels coming?

Yes, more are coming, no news on when/what just yet though.

I would love to see 'x' in the game!

If you have any suggestions for places or things you would like to clean, we are open ears and would love to hear them. As an early access title, we could still put in anything!

The best place is to suggest it in our Discord in the #feedback-and-suggestion channel. There are instructions at the top of the channel on how to submit an idea. It then goes to the vote-on-suggestions channel for players to indicate how popular an idea may be.

Will there be Workshop support?

There's no plans right now. If that changes in the future we'll let everyone know. Sorry that this isn't the answer you probably want to hear.

Are there key rebindings?

Yes, as of 0.5 we added the option to rebind controls. It still needs a few tweaks but overall it is functional. (To rebind CTRL or Shift, you need to hold down the key - this is a bug that we'll fix)

What is the FPS limit?

We have just added support for up to 240FPS with several options in-between.

Can I increase the FOV?

You can increase your FOV in the graphics options area of the settings menu. Use the slider to increase or decrease to your preference.

Can you toggle washing on and off?

Yes, you can right-click to keep the power washer on without holding it down.

Is there an official Reddit?

Yes, there's an official community ran subreddit here.

What are you doing to help with motion sickness?

Aim Mode came May 19th in Update 0.9. This fixes the camera in place and lets you move the power washer separately to the camera. We hope this will help dramatically with motion sickness issues.

We added an FPS increase to make movement smoother on high refresh rate monitors and crosshair options to fix the crosshair always on your screen to focus away from motion on the edge of the screen. FOV options have also been added.

Some tips:
- Try turning on the crosshair to always-on, this puts a fixed point on your screen which can help reduce noticing the motion around the washing less. By default, it disappears when you fire.
- Try lowering your mouse sensitivity, this will make the washing motion less pronounced. (some players also wash more by moving their character rather than washers which is smoother)
- Try playing with the FOV (field of view), for most people higher will help. If you are close to the monitor a lower FOV can confuse your brain which expects a wider aspect. Though a minority of people also report lowering the FOV can help.
- Ease yourself into it. This is hard for us to say as ultimately if a game is making you feel unwell it isn't good. Though some players have reported smaller sessions building up to longer sessions can reduce motion sickness.


My game isn't running well, stuttering etc.

Please first check that your system meets the minimum requirements for the game on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1290000/PowerWash_Simulator/ - if it doesn't match these we can't guarantee that there will be good performance.

There are settings you can change to increase performance though. You can simply switch between the presets, or if these still aren't enough here's some more steps to try:

GRAPHICS: (most likely the culprit if you are constantly having bad performance)

The most powerful tool here is 'Render Resolution' turning this down dramatically decreases the draw on your GPU but the graphics fidelity of the game will be decreased, you can experiment with this but 0.25 the lowest makes the game also look quite retro. Reducing/disabling all of the shadow options can help with CPU draw. Disabling Wetness VFX also can help as it is quite the power hog.

HARD DRIVE/SAVE: (most likely the culprit if there is stuttering occasionally when dirt is being removed)

To help with stuttering you can also turn off autosaves. Warning: with autosaves disabled, you will need to either load another level or close the game through the menu to save your washing. If you close the game with alt+tab or the game crashes your wash data won't be added to your save for that session.

Extra:

Check that your resolution matches the resolution of your monitor. Check that all of your computer drivers are up to date, especially graphics drivers which will mainly be either NVIDIA or AMD.

What is Legacy/Classic Wash Mode?

Legacy is only for older hardware that doesn't support some newer DirectX features. It should automatically detect what you need by scanning your hardware but if you can't clean anything in-game you can turn on the Legacy mode which will fix this. Classic is as we intended the game to be. There isn't any real noticeable graphical or gameplay difference between the two.

I can't start the game

Most of the time this is caused by a virus scanner but you can try these steps:

Game integrity: Verify the integrity of your game files on Steam. (Right click on PowerWash Simulator on Steam>Properties>Local Files>Verify Integrity Of Game Files)

3rd party anti-virus interference: Check that PowerWash Sim/Steam is whitelisted in your antivirus, that it hasn't caught powerwashsimulator.exe as a virus and your firewall isn't interfering.

Game install location: Some other games have reports of giving this error if they aren't installed on your default directory, you could attempt moving it across. (Right click on PowerWash Simulator on Steam>Properties>Local Files>Move Install Folder)

F-Secure: There is a gaming mode you can enable with Deep Guard where otherwise it may interfere with the game.

3RD Party Controller: Unplug third party controllers, test if the game loads.
