TLDR: Came here after Call of The Wild's constant pointless DLC and weapon re-skin packs, I was in search of a new hunting simulator. Way of The Hunter offers everything you want, without having to buy 300 different DLC packs. The graphics are great, the traversal is good (You start with a vehicle that costs $0) the shooting is much more realistic than C.O.T.W and it has real-world weapons. Sure it has the same issues such as loads of DLC, but they are much more user friendly and ADD to the game rather than REQUIRE you to buy them to have a good time.

Pros:
- Excellent shooting mechanics, wind direction, bullet impact/penetration and hit location work well to offer a realistic hunting experience.
- Animals react realistically to player presence, but don't run away miles before you even see them, so you can actually shoot stuff.
- The maps are HUGE and interesting to traverse, and each include a good fully fleshed out story that is actually engaging and isn't just a series of fetch quests
- Real-world weapons offer a wide variety of options. They also don't cost a fortune in-game so you can get great equipment quickly
- In-game radio has some awesome songs, and the menu music is wonderful and really sets the mood
- Unique "permission" system to break up the maps. either buy a licences for some in-game $ or do some missions to earn the landowners permission to hunt. Very realistic approach.

Cons:
- Maps are large and varied, but a lot of areas simply contain no wildlife at all. Vast arrays of mountain ranges and desert areas are pointless to spend any time in
- Can get the best weapons and attachments very quickly, meaning after the first few hours, money only exists to taxidermy and display trophies. Not technically a bad thing, but means there is little progression for equipment.
- A lot of DLC. It adds plenty to the game and I recommend buying it, but it doesn't come cheap

Verdict:
The best hunting sim available right now. Tonnes of content with a good learning curve, plenty of animal variety and really good graphics.

If you have nothing going on in life then this game might just be the time sink for you. You can walk around endlessly and see zero animals for hours on end and on the off chance you find one, you now get to crawl slowly to them and then shoot them in the head and watch them run off with minor blood loss.

This is the most boring game I've ever played, the devs does not respect your time.
