I only noticed antlered animals look different with higher star rating.
But the differences are not easily noticeable through the binocular.
Boars have bigger tusks, the more stars they have, per example.
From my observations (which might be wrong) all animals seem to start in a basic state, like e.g. young or adult (with a rather low score). A herd has to live "through" some life circles, before the good genes start to come up more noticeable (i.e. high scoring individuals are available).
Or is that wrong and the map CAN indeed spawn 5star matures, right from the start of a fresh, new map, in ANY part of the map (I am not talking about the areas you have to unlock, which come with high star animals, per se)?
Nez Perce, Matariki and newest map I have seen a 5 star on first day outside of private lands.
