Free Hunt is a sandbox mode, in which there are no objectives, just you and the game. There's levels of difficulty. Basic ammo is free. Nice community.
- Story: You have to do the first 6 story missions to unlock the other modes. In Story mode, you are locked to a specific character per map, but you can do missions and get collectibles. Your herds are persistent and carry over from sessions to session.
- Free Hunt: This shares the same herds as Story mode, but you can choose your character freely. The downside is you cannot do missions or get collectibles.
- Multiplayer: This creates a new herd population with every session. Free character selection, no missions. You can either play this as intended (co-op with others) or make a private lobby that you then use for yourself.
