Report a translation problem
Wind/environment sounds being obnoxiously loud to the point people stop playing or cut sessions short before their ears ring is a complaint since release you read over and over when you go through this forum or discord.
And surprise, it's still here...
"The mountainous terrain and forests of the Carpathians reduce the wind speed, which on average varies between 3-4 meters per second. But during the anticyclone, its speed reaches 25-30 meters, and some gusts - even 40 meters per second."
This quote refers to the Ukrainian part of the Carpathians, but I think that there will be no significant differences, since both regions are not so far apart. I could even imagine that the Romanian part of the Carpathians is a bit more protected from Asian weather and therefore even milder.
3-4 m/s is the average wind speed there. This is even in line with most ballistic calculation programs, which have a default setting of about 10 miles/h which is about 4,5 m/s.
This again corresponds to an average value of a light breeze of 3 Beaufort.
But point well taken, I'll pass this suggestion on to the design team for consideration.
So can't say I would want it reduced or not.
Other things bother me more than that.
Wind
This section discusses the wide-area hourly average wind vector (speed and direction) at 10 meters above the ground. The wind experienced at any given location is highly dependent on local topography and other factors, and instantaneous wind speed and direction vary more widely than hourly averages.
The average hourly wind speed in Nezperce experiences mild seasonal variation over the course of the year.
The windier part of the year lasts for 6.9 months, from October 23 to May 18, with average wind speeds of more than 5.0 miles per hour. The windiest month of the year in Nezperce is January, with an average hourly wind speed of 5.6 miles per hour.
The calmer time of year lasts for 5.1 months, from May 18 to October 23. The calmest month of the year in Nezperce is August, with an average hourly wind speed of 4.4 miles per hour.
let me say that I find the external ballistics of the game quite satisfying as it is, don´t dumb down it.
Thank you for considering the request. I think moderate wind and pleasant wind sounds definitely would improve the hunting mood.
I have now caught a period of lower wind speeds after many overnights, but it seems that the wind sounds are independent of the wind speed. I think there is something wrong with the wind noise in the open. It is always extremely strong and uncomfortable - even at lower wind readings - It sounds like they were actually recorded in strong wind and it remains constantly so.
I would consider lowering the wind level in general, and then check again separately to see if you can't additionally reduce the wind noise in the open areas to balance the whole thing out nicely.
This doesn't mean that there shouldn't be really bad or windy weather for a short time but ultimately it should be predominantly good hunting weather and a pleasant soundscape.
this issue has been pointed out since the release and still here.*
I've spent a lot of time in nature/forest when young, and unless you are in the middle of the storm, you never have a permanent sound coming from the wind in real life
