I would really doubt it.
You kind of need to play map B for the animals on map B to roam & grow & live.
Same with map A.

My 2 cents

i wouldnt mind about it, just curious....

That would be completely nonsensical, because then you could not operate a meaningful herd management. All 4 star animals that I had observed on map A up to now and then changed the map for a while were still 4 star animals afterwards.

I think quite the opposite, the current system is nonsensical. Herd management is not the only way to play, you know. I prefer hunting instead of managing, and I like to shoot big ones. So I'd hunt on map A and shoot everything that looks big, because I don't have hunter sense to tell me what to shoot. Maybe get a bit tired of map A. So I switch to map B and hunt there, while on map A new population of mature animals grow. So when I return I can hunt again, instead of having to wait god knows how many hours because the map was on pause this whole time. It really really sucks.

Well, you'll have to get me some proof of that ( way of saying ) because I don't think map B is still running while I hunt map A.

I said I would very much prefer it. Because I have been hunting on the EU map for the last few days, thinking that new animals will grow on the US map during this time! And if it's not like that, then i t really sucks...

They encourage me to leave the game running overnight to update populations, or what?

they should but likely do not as it is a seperate sever i believe

It has nothing to do with servers, I play in singleplayer. If while you hunting on map A, animals don't grow on map B, It will be the greatest disappointment for me in this game. It seems like such a natural way to play to change map every few days and always have grown up herds. What's the point to find the old map in the same state you left it, with nothing to shoot (mostly young animals)?

I think it's very difficult to find all the big animals in a map and kill them. The size of the map automatically ensures that bigger good animals keep growing. In addition, you can only hunt certain animal species for a few days and let the others grow.

I don't see any problem, and why the maps must be linked? Store the last total play time in each map data, store current total play time in player data. When loading the map, calc the time difference and update the animals age. Replace those who are too old now with randomly spawned youngsters. The most trivial thing to implement.

Of course I haven't found each big animal, the map is simply too large. But I played US one since the release, for a whole month. And I pretty much cleared all the places on it where I like to hunt. And my loadout allows to hunt every animal but birds, so yes I hunt all the species at the same time.

And btw dynamic maps would not interfere with herd management for those who prefer Way of the Manager playstyle. You can switch the maps at any time so what's the problem? When you know that this 4-star is going to turn into 5-star soon, just change the map and go grab him. It's even better, you don't need to sit on the same map for days and wait for it.
