How to find a specific animal

I am curious. I received a mission to hunt wild ducks, and accepted it. But I did not recall seing any indication of where I should go to find ducks. Not expecting a very specific area, but it could give some indication.
Did I miss it, or it really doesn't give you any hints as where to go?
The phaesant mission I think did not have an indicator either.
When I took the holywood mission, there were some directions as to where to find it. So I am wondering if I lost something.

How are we supposed to know where to look? Is there a location in game to give some ideas?

use the filter on the left side. ducks are noth- east at the map

in the early days of the game we had nothing but hunters knew that´s unlikely to find ducks in the high mountains ;-)
So on NPV map there is onle this north east region with a big swamp area. I drove there and searched, found need zones and finally ducks. A caller helps too.

No, the game did not tell you where. You're right. Now that you have the toolbox, things will be much clearer. Good hunting.

For the ducks, when you get the mission, River mentions in dialogue that he used to hunt ducks in the swamps north of the lodge. For the pheasants, you should already have heard, if not seen them en route to Hollywood and preceding missions.
