- it's a tons less grindy than CoTW (CoTW is way too much grind and everything cost way too much, i mean.. a rifle cost 90K.. killing a buffalo will grant you 1200 at best and taxiderm it will cost you around 30-35K. WoTH also have a grind part, but it's less important (taxiderm a buffalo is 8K or so, but buffalo grant barely 1K, wich is still better.
- in addition to grind, you dont have to pay for sleeping (that's dumb in CoTW to pay for sleeping in a tent that you bought already), additionaly ammos is free etc...
- animal variety is better in WoTH, i mean that contrary of CoTW, you feel like it's more variable. CoTW is too much on big animals and not enougth small ones. That's why they even created entiure map specially for small animals and birds.. LOL.
But the biggest point to me is the realism of environement and pleasure to play in it.
CoTW have too much high grass and bushes, everywhere, you can't see anything all the time, even in africa. WoTH is more clear and allow better sight and all. It's more confortable (and less RAM eating for the PC)
I also like the fact the bullet have real effect on animals, the expansion of cavity can touch organs and kill animal, and the artery is taken in consideration. Meaning that you can kill an animal from a headshoit even if you dont touch the brain, as the cavity created by the bullet can damage the brain. CoTW have too much animals taking headshot and running away like nothing happen to them because you missed the brain from a centimeter.
just as bonus, i also like the fact the animal stop to breath and relax after a shot. i got multiples times surprised by animals i though dead but stand up and run away when i get close XD
some unique animals have crazy rack, but the devs pushed them to be super-animals, their senses is way too high.
also CoTW animals have weird reactions.
i never seen a alligator running away from hearing a human walking, that's probably the animal that will run away the least, at the point you can even take risk to try touching them IRL (better not doing it, but there is no way a alligator will run away from a human stepping around).
buffalo that do 400m to attack you and heatseeking constantly with doing 90° break dances move to hit you and wont go away until your dead or you kill it.
rabbits that can destroy ATV if you run over them... LOL
etc..
well, CoTW is all in graphisms. The rest is pretty meh to me.

In Woth exist on the map. You can find a young animal, wait some days and it will become an adult and later it will become mature. And he will die of old age if you don't kill him. And will born new animals.
Vanilla, this game wins hands down. But there's mods for The Hunter that basically allow you to make significant changes to animal population, weapons, render distance, equipment, vehicles, etc.
With the right mods, The Hunter is definitively better.
But i really miss my full educated dog ! especially since some animals are notorious in starting attacking me even from 200m away :-)
Let me resumé this game from my experience to you.
- Herd management is not that good, like you think it is. You'll see when you start understanding it & playing it.
- Animals all behave/react the same. Predators, prey, etc. Also, trophy animals all look alike.
- You might see a 4* animal & work on him weeks, yes weeks, expecting/hoping he grows to 5*, which is pretty much our objective to get. And one day, he died on you & a young one replaced him. So, all these hours for nothing in the end. Think about that!
- Yes, graphics are good and all, but like I said many times, if a company in 2023-2024 can't have a great looking hunting game they are probably in the wrong league.
- Multi playing is buggy & has issues for some players. Not playable even.
- This game like mentioned by abc123 is repetitive & boring really quickly. After you've done all the missions & open your maps, gotten a couple 5*, what else to do really.
This game imho, came out 1 year ago prematurely. It wasn't ready at all. Still today, feels like it's in a testing mode. Each updates brings new issues. Like they do not test anything before releasing these updates & we are the ones, testing it afterwards for them.
Not saying not to buy it or anything. You'll just find out by yourself.
Telling you to hold back your excitement to get less dissapointed when you find out what this game is really all about.
Another thing. If they listen to many people out there with their '' demands '' of what to add to this game, well, I don't give it long life.
