But it should be used not at long distances.
Here in the table you see the energy and the bullet weigh.

I shouldn't call that useless. But it sure is of much better use in Transsylvania than in Idaho.
It's weak because they chose to use Managed Recoil ammo. It's very weak and not meant to hunt big game. It's more for woman and kids who don't want recoil. I don't see why it's needed in a 30-30 as it only has 12lbs of recoil. It's a bad choice the devs made.
I got a Win 94 in 30-30 for Christmas when I was 10 years old. I hunted for deer for 2 years and then we started to drive to Colorado to hunt for elk every year. I used the 30-30 for elk hunting and never lost one I shot. I'm not saying it's a good choice for elk hunting but it has killed more deer than any other caliber. Someone should have told that to the devs.
To compare. The Managed Recoil ammo uses a 125gr bullet and much less powder. Normal 30-30 ammo is 150gr-170gr and way more powder.
Maybe they think grandpa couldn't handle normal ammo. Pretty sad assumption.
So they probably didn't think that (IRL-accurate ballistics) was necessary, knowing that most players would move quickly onto another rifle, and probably never go back.
The 30/30 and 32 Special were traditionally seen similarly as starter tools for beginner hunters, even though it's history goes back to shooting from horseback.
They became appreciated over the years as great 'Brush Guns', given their compact design and quick response features. When hunting on foot in heavy cover the small lever action repeater was perfect for getting that quick shot off without worrying about obstructions or aligning a scope on the target.
They were meant to be handled Church Connors style, not American Sniper.
My name is Muley Hunter on that forum. I'm #1 member in Team 30-30.
It changed the distance the 30-30 could be hunted. That's the ammo the game should have used instead of the crappy Managed Recoil stuff. Who needs to reduce the recoil of a 30-30? I can shoot it with one hand.

Anything you can shoot one handed should at least suggest to you that it might not have sufficient hitting power beyond 150 yards.
Where I live, no hunter would use a 30 caliber for large game at long range. If hunters encountered another hunter laying prone attempting to take down a moose over 250 yards away they would probably best him silly and leave taking his gun with them.
Where do you live that a .300 mag isn't enough for big game?
I can use one hand because I was strong. Just an old man now. It was just to show it's recoil is moderate and doesn't need Managed Recoil ammo. The standard ammo is already managed. I was a skinny kid who wasn't even a teenager when I got mine and recoil was easy to handle. Shooting dad's 30-06 was another matter. It took a lot of weight lifting to feel comfortable shooting it.
