Right, it's waaaaay more realistic to be able to stand in an open field and be completely invisible and scentless. Wink wink!!!
Or to spot a nice target and not be able to track it. Or that the only time it actually leaves behind tracks is after you make it bleed so it will finally start leaving a trail.
Yup, not a child's game for sure.
They are completely different games and you cant play them the same way. I can sit here and say, ive never only hit 1 lung on a deer and have it drop like they do in cotw and complain about its realism too.
Find your initial blood spot, turn on hunter sense, hunter sense pulses out away from the character and only highlights blood for a second. Initially hunter sense does not work while moving. The blood spots point towards the next one. Shot placement really matters in this game as in real life. A lung hit with .243/7mm-08 is generally gonna run about 100 yards. Also use real hunting strategies as well. Dont immediatly give chase. The wounded animals in this game do stop and lay down to bleed out. IF you give chase they will run further.
I will admit the hunter sense color being yellow does make it hard to see on nezperz where all the grass is yellow, but they are fixing that.
shooting stupid white-tailed deer, which you don't even have to hit properly, where the wind has no influence on the shot and then following a glowing trail, even small children can do that.
Maybe some of the people don't like the game because of it's current state? For the sake of an argument. RL hunters that have played this game have said. The animals get spooked from to far away and then run to far away after being spooked. So for us people that complain or are permanently active in the forums that (don't like the game) our just out to get the dev team to make the game better and more realistic. Maybe?
It was not tested enough. It wasn't ready to come out. A premature birth!
Then, imo, this game is far from being balanced in many categories.
For instance, what some are saying about how the animals spook. I agree 100% that this part of the game is unbalanced.
You can have some animals come right next to you and/or have them easily spook from 200-250 meters away. And yes, they also run away very far.
Many meters away. ( like 300m+ )
The fact that bows were not already included from launch is sad, but since I know it will come in the future, it's all good & I'm patient. But still disappointing.
I'm not going to give you my opinions about the many other issues with this game because it would be too long. i.e. our avatar's weakness to do anything + the ambiant sounds + the irregularities with the performances of our rifles + the Birds behaviours + multi play being so broken + the lack of animals for the size of the maps + the '' *herd management '', etc.
* Not sure it's that effective & works as intended. If it is working as intended, well someone needs to precisely tell me how it works. Coming from a programer, not a '' I think I know '' person.
About adding treestands! Yes, it could be good, BUT try to imagine what work it would need ( code wise, time wise... ) for it to be added & how it would actually work in THIS game knowing what we know so far about it.
( Do not expect to have it work like the other games )
So, unbalanced is the key word for me.
I could go on & on but that's that for now. 505 hours so far & anxious to get the update & have other missions to do & other species to hunt.
Thank for reading all if you did.
But then it would make more sense if these people reported there and brought up their problems where they were also heard. Discord is the forum for this game where anyone can give feedback or report bugs and communicate directly with the developers. What takes place here is a dump of frustration without really contributing to the good success. Demanding and belittling is something different than constructive criticism. Then these people should continue to play the other hunting games, they already have everything there. That's always the main argument that real hunters have something to complain about, because it's different in reality. Then they have the opportunity to contribute their knowledge, but they have nothing to demand. Did you install and test the dev version 1.20 and give your feedback to the developers to help the game progress? I tested everything for many hours and reported everything that didn't work. Meanwhile, others here have put forward their Santa wish list.
If you have questions about the game mechanics then ask them directly here in this forum. There are some players here who have been there from the start and who know the game enough to be able to make statements. I don't know if you already know this page but maybe it's a little help for you. The page is updated regularly and therefore not all animals and areas of need are included. You can scroll into the map and the animals will be visible like in the game if you click on them the need areas will appear. The life cycle of the animals is explained, weapon selector and other things are still to come. https://codeaid.github.io/woth-toolbox/nez-perce-valley
So, i´m waiting for a furry helper some day ;-)
