But arsenal needs time, if COTW needs 5 years, I think they can catch it within 2~3 years.
However, some clear advantages I'd list:
You can pause the game when real life demands it--which is important if you're not a single gamer. In addition, when you exit the game, and later play it again, you resume exactly where you were, which is a huge win for my playstyle, where I can't always dedicate several hours of continuous play to travel to a location, scope it out, and find the animal I'm looking for. If I have even 30 minutes of downtime between IRL responsibilities, I don't have any hesitation to fire it up and make a little progress.
You can spot animals at 900-1100m on PC (can't remember the console figures off the top of my head, but they are all in excess of COTW). I don't take 1km shots, but I really love the realism of seeing a herd across a valley and mentally noting that I should go check that out--or just going after them right then.
Storms are infrequent, but they are awesome when you get into one. The changing quality (and angle/direction) of light throughout the day is also excellent. If it really were a walking simulator as some folks label it, I think I'd still play it :)
To different kind of games, both have good things to offer. Way of the Hunter In a year or two might be the better game we will see.....COTW could Improve there game If they thought WOTH was taking there player base, don't count COTW out yet I think they can change directions a lot faster.........I wish them both the best .........
m.h.267 sums it up perfectly.
I would even add to his answer: depends on your expectations for a hunting game. Depends on what kind of person you are in life & about your taste/preferences/standards and so on.
I'll never take any decisions in my life based on someone's opinions/tastes/likings. I'll want to find out by myself.
Thank you.
I enjoy the graphics and animal actions more in WOTH. But multiplayer is not up to par in comparison to COTW. I really hope they fix this ASAP. There are more bugs in WOTH but these days that’s expected upon release and the devs seem proactive in fixing them.
You can’t go wrong with either game, it’s your choice on how you want the experience to be.
Up until the release of WoTH, I had purchase every DLC for CoTW I think, except for the last reserve released. I have enjoyed this game so much, I have yet to revisit CoTW, and frankly the thought hasn't crossed my mind.
The environment here is what captures me, pulls me in until I log out or fall sleep here in this chair. Hunting can be tough many a times. It definitely takes patience and a lot of time. You risk not getting a kill for the two or more hours in spend here, but you may be surprised to encounter other enjoyments that are just as rewarding, like following and observing a young herd of Whitetail Deer at 90 yards, as you keep a eye on the range of a Bear nearby. I love seeing how close I can get to animals without spooking them, and just observe their behaviors and how they react to the tiniest indication of my presence.
I have no regrets. Patiently and eagerly awaiting new DLCs and improvements, while I hone my skills at Way of The Hunter.

If you play it right you can kill animals at will. Goto need zones at certain times and there will be animals.
