Hard to say what is the cause of those fails w/o seeing you play.
I have no problem with them so far.
- What weapon are you using?
- At what distance are you trying them?
- Where really are you aiming?
- Are they moving/walking when you shoot them?
- If the animal is far gone, do you still track him or are you after instant kills only?
...
Thanks for helping!
- Im using the monobloc .308
- about 150m most shots
- I varied at aiming, but mostly as I said, above the front legs, in the middle of the body
- sometimes walking slowly, or standing completely still
- I follow the blood track, but only if its a medium blood stain, light I don't even bother to follow.
- Weapon is good.
- Maybe try a bit closer if you can.
But the main thing, imo, not that I pretend to know perfectly how to play this game, it's your aiming.
- Don't aim ABOVE the front leg. Like I mentioned in another thread, above the front leg is a big leg bone attached to the shoulder blade. So the heart is well protected/hiden.
Try completely in the middle of the body, in the back, way back of the front leg. You will get 1 lung or maybe both, which is our objective besides the heart & you could hit the liver also, which is a vital organ too.
Also
if you can wait for the Pig to have his head down to eat/drink, his heart will back up a bit, being less protected because of pushing backwards his insides.
Again, I don't pretend to know the right way to this game. Just suggesting ideas based on my exps.
Good luck & keep me informed.
Take a look at this caption. It might help you.

Edit: As always DYUEZ advice is spot on.

Thanks for the tipp @DYEUZ!
Keep practicing & experiencing. You'll have them covered in no time.
For real? lol. But don't you still lose more money that way?
You will lose a bit or a lot of everything if you shoot the head of any species.
- You will lose '' trophy rating stars '' ( maybe even all of them if a wasted animal )
- You will lose some money. ( even all if a wasted animal ) To be checked further though.
About the '' hunt rating '', well, this is not very important for my kills & stats. So I don't care about it really.
Ty. My opinion only.
This gives me a chance to post my headshot-screenshot...
You loose all trophy stars as you say, but money seems ok. I'm not sure of the normal price for bears, though:

I'll try to work on that. We'll need to show both '' HUNT '' pages to compare money.
Boars are one of the spiecies which you can shot in the head without losing hunt rating stars
I'm sure not!
Hunt rating & trophy ratings are two things.
To each his own of course.
