Two lungs hits but deers run for 500 m before dying ?
Hello,

There is something I don't understand or it's unrealistic. I shot some deers one shot / 2 lungs hit, but deer seems to have superpower to run for almost 300-500 m before falling.

Don't know if it's possible but with 2 lungs hit, I'm not sure they can jump and run like bunnies.

Do I miss something ?

Lung and heart shot deer can absolutely run for distances that would blow your mind. They can go for hundreds of yards on pure adrenaline. There are all kinds of stories and videos.

Don't have any screens about that. For the cavity damage don't remember but I use a 7 mm (Pro hunter 2), at 150 m.

I had an another one, this one was bugged : it was stuck throught a bridge. I shoot one time with the same gun at 25 m. 2 lungs hit when I was be able to confirm the shot. After the shot it starts to run (but nowhere because it was stuck throught the bridge). After running 15 s, it stops and lay down. 2 seconds later it started running again and it was a non stop cycle like that again and again until I shot a second time in the heart.

Don't complain about the game I made a positive review, but I think that some behaviors are bugged or need work.

I've made it a habit to screenshot all kill info because of inconsistencies.

Hit Energy = Penetration damage + Cavity damage
Hit Energy is mostly predetermined according to distance and can be referenced from player made graphs/tables.

If the projectile leaves the animals body there will be a loss to damages. Which means Pen + Cav will no longer = Hit Energy. Sometimes, for reasons unknown (bug) even when the projectile does not leave the animal's body there is an unaccounted loss of damages.

Most weapon's Cavity damages = 52% of total damage (Hit Energy).
There are a few special cases I've found. The .243 can have Cavity damages as low as 48% but seems to increase with distance, inconsistent. The .338 has a pretty consistent 34% Cavity damage of Hit Energy.

Visually, the higher the % of Cavity Damage, the more area of effect the projectile has. Meaning the .243 and .338 are less error friendly and geared more towards precision and more sell price as there will be less meat Loss by Shot.

Without a screenshot we'll have to take your word for it, but how damaged was both lungs?

I've had a deer not die from a half damaged single lung shot and about 20% damaged heart and also happened to be an instance when the projectile did not leave the body and had an unaccounted loss of 227J in damages. I didn't realize until I culled it with a different shot.

Animals definitely run WAY too far after receiving critical hits. Roughly 50-75% too far in my opinion.

Ultra realistic unnecessarily slow and painful death simulator.

I don't know about everyone else here, but when I hunt, I like to see the animal drop dead as close to instantly as possible and they usually do. Typically, they never even know what hit them.

I'd feel like ♥♥♥♥ and probably stop hunting if every deer I shot in real life ran for 300 to 500m with a bullet in him afterwards. Thankfully, I haven't ever experienced that.

We can only take your word for it without the support of a screen shot, but the distance figures you announce look like bad shots. From my own experience in the game, when I shoot an animal, either I hit the heart and it dies instantly, or it goes 50m and falls but not 500m. The few times it happened to me was after a really bad shot.

I feel ya. Same here. Ethical hunting isn't just about saying, "hey, I follow the rules, I'm not a bad person". It's literally about killing the animal quickly. 200m is already far and as you indicate, 300m-500m is just too much. Not to mention that the animal definitely would've been suffering too long (stressed) for the meat to even taste good. How can it be a 5 star hunt if anyone can barely chew it afterward. No one's gonna want to pay for that. I've rarely witnessed any hit animal get completely away. 99% of the time (anecdotally) they are under 200m. For context 200m is just over 650ft, or over 2 football field lengths.

I agree. They spook too easy too.

The devs have exaggerated real life thinking they made more realism.

Animals can still be killed but it's not realistic. I've shot and seen shot too many animals to accept how animals act in this game as correct.

The 300 to 500m isn't from me. I was loosely quoting what someone else had said in this thread. I don't own the game yet and won't until it's less of a train wreck.

If I hit both lungs non of my animals came further than 50m.

There are times when that happens and then there are times like just here a few minutes ago, a double lung ran 220m and according to the info, it was the artery damage that killed it.
