AVOID | LACKING | MAYBE | WORTHWHILE | COMPELLING | UNMISSABLE

Firework is a point and click narrative-based game. The story focuses on an increasingly strange and ominous investigation of death/suicide/murder (who knows!). I was legitimately creeped out/scared while playing this game and not in a jump scare sort of way. The story is about equal parts spooky and sad, with glimmers of hope gently sprinkled in. The music, artwork, and general vibe of the game adds to the overall atmosphere.

The game took me about 3.5 hours to complete and was engaging throughout the entire playthrough. It felt like the perfect length and didn't overstay its welcome or feel like there wasn't enough detail. I'm categorizing this game as compelling, but if you don't vibe with the story, it's probably closer to worthwhile. But, if you generally enjoy creepy things and/or games like Detention, this game is similar in style/gameplay/vibe.

Overall, this game is easy to recommend for fans of narrative games with a heavy focus on horror/creepiness. I think the game's length was perfect for 1-2 sessions of really immersing yourself in the story.
