I think that might be part of the source of your confusion so I wanna get that out of the way first.
Now, for the first code, the one with the weird symbols (horseshoe, musical note, etc):
Every flashback sequence, in Pierre's diary, he talks about drawing someone or something that day, and shows you the drawing.
You need to keep note of the things he draws in order of appearance.
So if the first drawing is of his music teacher, you need to note down something like "1 - music teacher". If the second drawing is of his mom, you note down something like "2 - mom".
Then once you get to the code with the weird symbols, you need to reference your notes about the order of the drawings, and use that to decide which symbols you need to enter, and in which order.
Each person/thing has a corresponding symbol, the music teacher corresponds to the musical note, the mom corresponds to the female symbol, etc. Once you understand that there's a correlation, you can deduct it very easily.
The number is a second code that you will need to enter after the first. It is also randomized so you need to get it too, but it is simply the numeric code that Pierre writes down plainly in one of the last entries of the diary, there is no trick to it.
So it is all about getting that first code right, really.
Couldn't ask for a better answer, perfectly understood. I already have the first one which is a little boy. The entry read something about this boy being 2 years old so I thought "2" was the first part of the code, but I wrote down that's a boy so I assume that's my first symbol.
Left one of those stickers thingies (I assume those are good as a thank you note, don't really know since I'm new to Steam) for you and one for EraserSK too. Thank you both.
