Shaky aim even without a mask on?

I dunno if this is intended.. But my entire aim is unsteady as if i have a gas mask on but I don't...

EDIT: it turns out having a gas mask on has no effect on your aim which makes me even more confused why this happened...

I know that certain elements such as fear will kick your aim off, particularly being hit. this makes the first shot of combat reasonably accurate while prolonged battle really scews the aim off. whether shellshock is a long term hidden mechanic of your character, im not so sure

Yeah but it has been a couple of minutes and my character's aim is still messed up.. Maybe being in dark areas affect it? in any case I ended up having to reload and losing a ton of progress sadly...

For anyone dealing with this in the future I've finally figured it out.. There's kinda of a non-explained mechanic in the game, which is if you reach a certain threshold after killing too many enemies your crosshair starts getting shaky and inaccurate. The only way to deal with it that I've found is to consume alcohol...

If you examine alcohol, it explains that it will help calm your nerves. I'm stubborn and refuse to waste my precious alcohol on that though.
