Is this based off a real job?
If so, does that mean this is based off a real ship graveyard?

Jobs like this do exist. In the U.S., there aren't druggies twitching outside 3rd world shacks surrounding such operations.

Yep. It's called ship breaking. When a ship is no longer useful we have a mountain of metal we could just melt down and use again.

yes, in fact there's a location in india where like 1/3 of all ships in the world go to get scrapped and it's well documented

the ship graveyard in the game could be any of a number of real life locations throughout Indonesia, the Phillipines and the coast of India. In reality though they are MUCH larger, it doesn't pay to ship a small fishing boat to Bangladesh, the ships sent to breakers are huge oceanic cargoliners and tankers, oftencargo ships of older types that are no longer needed, are starting to cost too much to maintain due to age, have been damaged and would cost too much to repair, or have been disposed of for other reasons.

There was a Dirty Jobs episode I watched where they broke down an old ship. Very, very claustrophobic and dangerous. BUT the $$$$, I would do it.

Nearly at the beginning (one of the first posts) I posted some videos about shipbreaking: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1286880/discussions/0/2261312148333959860/

Keep in mind that's in Bangladesh, where the average rent is 95% lower than in the US and the cost of living is 65% lower than the US average. The average yearly income in Bangladesh is equivalent to only US $1,400.

$5 a day isn't bad if you only have to pay $70 a month for rent and utilities.

Yeah it's actually what I do for a living and pretty cool once you become desensitized to asbestos exposure or being nearly crushed to death by a 200 pound valve being cut above on a higher deck from a new guy who has no clue what hangers are for.

And the one I quoted who would do that lives in USA and not Bangladesh.
