I still remember sitting at a restaurant called Quatros, located in Carbondale, IL. Every Wednesday, our gaming group which mostly consisted of WoW players at the time, would meet up for some great pizza and a couple pitchers of beer. I remember being at these hangouts and just raving about Old Republic. I talked about what was in the game at the time and how it compared to a lot of MMO's. I talked about the potential it had and what that meant for players and SW fans. I called it the WoW Killer...years would pass...but eventually, your game found its footing.
I now call Old Republic a MAAOE (Massive Action Adventure Online Experience) because this game has moved way past what makes an MMO, an MMO and has become something much more beautiful. Its own freaking thing. You're the only game (that I am aware of) who are attempting to craft such a unique experience. Instead of scrounging for ideas to keep your player base interested or re-hashing previous content with a new color or skin, you all are keeping the dream alive.
I really hope you understand how important it is that you reined me in, as a player. I'm not tooting my horn or saying I'm unique (every person and player is unique though!), and I cannot put it into words like I would prefer...but you are doing something VERY RIGHT.
I, like a lot of others, suffer from impostor syndrome in my work. I hope this message helps to quell any fears any of the devs may have about trying new things. Like I said, I'm not trying to sound important. I just know how much a thank you means to me in my line of work, I know how much it means to hear you're doing something right, even if from just one person.
This game is a rare and special enigma. It's still going, still building, still creating. All in the hopes of creating a truly special and unique experience for each player and each of those player's characters they create (in so many ways more than just character creation).
Thank you very much for this.
Dr. Ian Malcolm said "Life, uh, finds a way" Your team is certainly doing that.
THIS is what I was waiting for and requesting for the last almost 10 years, and now it'll finally happen!
