star wars the old republic remake

hi. i read there will be an remake of the game. what will happen to this old version of the game and our characters? will it be an new game or can we transfer our characters to it?

You are probably thinking of the Knights of the Old Republic remake. That is a remake of the 2003 single player RPG that Bioware made. This game is The Old Republic. It came out in 2011-12 and is an MMORPG. They are separate games. This MMO is not getting a remake. The original single player RPG might be getting a remake. They announced it, but then it was indefinitely postponed. Supposedly it's still in development, but there is still a high chance it will never be released.

KotOR is the single player RPG. That's the game that is having a remake, not SWTOR. The remake is in development hell at the moment though.

oh thank you. its confusing, because both games have similar names. i thought swtor is getting an remake, because its over 10 years old.

MMOs don't get remakes (unless they are FFXIV). They get sunsetted and/or sequels.

SWTOR will continue for the foreseeable future, as it's going to be run by Broadsword soon, if it hasn't already happened yet.
