This game is at least a year from shutting down
I don't think they care about making a good end game. They just know how to make story content. Story content isn't good enough to save this game. It needs something more.

And how did you come to this conclusion, please tell. People have been doom and glooming that SWTOR will be dead like 7 years ago. Yet it is still here, how strange.
Yyyyep, and here it still stands and will continue to stand.

There are 7,000 people online.

Before the game came to steam, there would be 1,000 people online. I was still no where close to shutting down.

Now that the pop has 7x'd, you think it's going to shut down????

lmao

Not to mention, a lot of people still use the launcher from SWTORs website over steams launcher. So I would not be surprised if there are 10,000 players online at the moment.

Unlike other MMOs such as runescape & WoW, those 10,000 players are not bots.

As long as no other SW mmorpg comes out, SWTOR will be safe. What this game really needs to gather new crowds and to secure it's future for a couple of more years, is new servers or a server wipe of the existing ones. Too much crap left from Bioware.

More like a good way to lose existing players. A new server perhaps, but a wipe? No way that that would work out. For sure, I'd walk away and I'm just a single player being honest about it.

I've worked too hard to get what I have, only for it to be wiped for bla bla reasons.

edit:
Oh, and you'd also be wiping any real money that people put into this game. Just saying, pretty selfish imo.

There is a new server with a non broken economy and even though you might get 200-300 ping other than pvp it's perfectly fine I grinded the whole double xp there and no issues and I'm east coast NA

Not like it's ever going to happen. They are still the same devs that refused to do a couple of days rollback to fix all the credits exploits...

Nah you just wrong there, the game is still profitable af

You must be thinking of Gamigo.

I don't know much about Broadsword, but from what I hear from people I know in the press and industry, this move has helped give the game a new lease on its life.

nitpicking. okay well that's that then.
It's not nitpicking. It's called getting called out on the BS.

All games are dead according to the internet. Wonder what people are actually playing then.

Yes, and that's exactly what the post you quoted means.

Broadsword takes (almost) dead games and keeps them on life-support for decades. This is exactly what Broadsword specialises in, and this is what is happening to Swtor.

Since we know Broadsword's skills, we know what to get - and what to expect. If one thing is for sure now, then it's that this game won't be shutting down any time soon. Whether it's still worth playing is another question, of course.

Perhaps some people believe there will always be private servers if an MMO shuts down. But, that is never a guarantee. Even if SWTOR is on "life-support" with a drip feed of content every now and then, it's better than dead.
O.K Jan 16, 2024 @ 1:20pm
nah it wont shutdown next year maybe later down the road
my bet is it will go maintenance mode this year tho
Pixel Jan 16, 2024 @ 1:57pm
Well that sucks I was hoping it'd find some kind of way to keep people happy. It seems harder leveling wasn't keeping things afloat so they nerfed that. It was nice being able to do content with a follower and solo things though.
Berserkr Jan 16, 2024 @ 2:00pm
Well there goes my hope of subbing once again after 3 years if it hits 8.0 lol

Well, it really depends on the player imo. To me, this game is already worth playing, as it's not exactly lacking in content. That's me though, as I'm content with what's currently in the game, and really just want to be able to enjoy this MMO for hopefully another decade or two.

Sure SWTOR will be in maintenance mode, but at least it'll be alive and playable for anyone who's interested. Even better really, considering that most of the content in this game is soloable.
