Please Help.
So i tried to play this game again.

It uses 100% CPU and literally burns it as it goes up to 100 Degree C
(it cools down after i close it immediatly to 30-40 Degrees C)

And this is just on the start up, as i cant even past the loading screen.

Can't find any solution, i verified the cache, fresh install etc. nothing works.

Someone got any tips , or why tf this games literally wants to burn my new PC ? :(

Got an I7 14700K that is water cooled and a RTX 4080 if that is needed to know.

Game flashes black screen and closes or is stuck at the initial loading screen
Press the [Windows] Key + [R] at the same time

Copy the following in to the text box and press ok

%localappdata%\swtor\swtor\settings
Open the client_settings.ini file in notepad and ensure the following are displayed within

Fullscreen = false
D3DFullScreen = false
RefreshRate = 60
Check NativeHeight, NativeWidth, Height and Width ( all 4 ) match your monitor resolution.

Save and close the file.
Start the game as normal.
Change graphic settings within the game as desired.

Ryzen 5600X is somewhere between 30-40 degrees (water cooled)
ASUS GeForce RTX 4060 DUAL OC is around 40-45 degrees.

but isn't there something about the intel getting so damn hot?
Are you running everything on max or low?
but when you look at youtube, I think many people suffer from heat on the intel

I have no problem in any other game, for example CP2077 Raytracing Ultra,
50-60 degrees and my GPU is around 70 degrees.

I can't even look up the settings(just reinstalled the game after some years), as this game starts and loads forever, while doing so it literally burns my CPU(still cools between 50-100 degrees)but i dont like it if a game that old literally eats more ressources on start up than a modern game with raytracing on ultra.

. GPU is literally unaffected and stays at 40 degrees.

SWTOR is known to max out the CPU. No one knows why. The only thing that helps is capping the framerate. The default is capped at 200 fps. You can turn on Vertical Sync to cap it at the monitor's refresh rate or lower the Frame Rate setting.

For the Frame Rate setting:
1. Go to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\SWTOR\swtor\settings
2. Open ACCOUNTNAME_Account.ini.
3. Find the Graphics_FrameRate and change the number to 30. If it's not there, just add: Graphics_FrameRate = 30
4. Open the game and test it.
5. If everything is good, experiment increasing the frame rate until you get it as high as you can without overheating. Available Frame Rate caps are 30, 60, 90, 100, 120, and 200.

There's probably an ini setting for Vertical Sync as well, but I didn't see it or don't know what they call it in the files.

Actually, we do know pretty well why. It's because the game runs on an unfinished alpha version of the Hero engine and still uses DirectX 9. Therefore the client is unable to utilize multi-core threading to split the processing workload on multiple cores and instead stressing single cores to the max, which is why processors with higher single core output fare better with this game.

Hence the serious issues that the game has with performance when lots of stuff is happening on the screen.

I run a 1070 and am fine, just find a switch too.
Is there a way to unlock the 200fps limit? I have a 500hz monitor. Would want to see if I can push the game to that framerate.
