Gameplay modernaztion?
I like the Idea of updated graphics, but more fluid and immersive combat tweaks would be better, Im not suggesting a complete revamp just a few tweaks to make it more engaging and immersive

Don't think that Broadsword is going that route. They're much more a 'maintenance mode' studio that keeps games on limited life support after inheriting them from other studios. This is, however, their biggest game, so there's a chance they are willing to do 'something' of the kind, but nothing too major. Can't take the big risks and have to try to maintain the status quo.

The combat is fine the way it is.
So fine it was shoveled off to a maintenance mode developer.

Combat design had nothing to do with that.

The game was healthy and populated prior to 5.0. KOTFE introduced a bunch of bad decisions for the game like the pure RNG gear loot ("ThRiLl Of ThE hUnT!!!!"), less content was being added and as the game bled players the content updates became less and less, which just spiraled more people leaving.

Ben Irving did a lot of damage to swtor, and it never recovered.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

"RNG is exciting" drove the stake right through the heart and ensured the game would never recover.
