Google Authenticator?
As mentioned in a recent post I have been thinking of returning to the game after an absence of 2 years.
Back then I used the SWTOR Security key on a previous phone, and researching this aspect I see that it is recommended that I now install the Google Authenticator.
However, when I started to install this, apart from being bombarded by advertisements, it would seem that I would have to pay a subscription to use the authenticator.
Is this the case, or have I missed something (quite possible)?

I do not mind pay a monthly subscription for the game, but draw the line at also paying a subscription to access it.

I have it on iPhone. I didn't have any advertisements when installing it and it doesn't require a subscription. There is an option to login to a Google account to sync between devices, but I just ignored that feature (not logged in). Are you sure you got the right app and not a knockoff scam version? The publisher of the app should be Google.

Edit: Here are some links to it on the app stores.
Apple - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-authenticator/id388497605
Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.authenticator2

Thanks for the reply and links. I will check them out.
Generally see people recommend the Microsoft Authenticator App, because it apparently has a Desktop version. So you don't need your phone with you to sign in on your Desktop.
