F2p can also do various Flashpoints in addition to the other free content.
But, even F2P - it's hella a lot of content, and basic stories are the best in the game, just find which you feel the best work personally for you and have fun, from 8-th of them, sure thing you will find 1 or 2 that suit you best. For me, it was just like a fine singleplayer game, with online possibility.
I wouldn't want to play without subscription, but if you have never played through the class stories, it is very much worth it.
Paying for subscriptions keep servers from shutting down.
if you want access to ALL of the story, pay a sub for ONE month and you get almost everything up to that month

biggest problem with F2P is your 1mil Limit and the need for Escrow Certs.. more costs.
That's it. Utilma Online, was shut down, but many got wonderful stories about how they play and had fun, later servers were got up once more and today the game runs the same Broadsword as SWTOR and they little by little have kept the game alive since 2014 (not bad for a "dead" game).
Or even Sims Online, EA shut down the game... After was unofficial server created, which was shut down too (there was a terrible administration I may say, their fault), but another unofficial server now successfully live and many players who played in original Sims Online playing and having fun today, with extra wonderful stories how they had fun too on original release.
Even we all eventually die (not me, I intended to live FOREVER!
Personally, I have two beautiful but not popular much MMO RPG experiences from 2004 to 2012, which are closed... And I glad what I had fun at the time, it was unique experiences, and stories that I had then, are forever in my heart, and even if games are closed, I do not regret anything... Well, maybe a little, but more with nostalgia than true regret, which is good.
it comes down to costs. why this game won't go away as it's operated by a skeleton crew indie company as a side project for ea.
I logged into my old main, and half the ability bars are empty? So, I go find out that they pruned a lot of the abilities. Now, some people like this, good for you - but personally, I hate it. It just shows or directs me to believe they wanted to dumb down the game-play to make it more easier. Wow did this near the end of Pandaria and I hated it, stopped playing.
All in all, my experience was not fun; the game has changed and not for the better. I hate only having like 6/7 abilities to use, it gets boring.
