As a free to play title, is it worth it?
I was considering on trying out the game itself; though I also noticed a subscription service to it. Is that deemed necessary or not? I have looked up I can go from 1 to 60 in the game without the need of the subscription.

Is it worth giving it a shot? I ask because it's been many years since I ever tried giving this game another chance.

yes

Actually yes. You can play all 8 class stories, and the first 2 expansions for free. Subscription is mostly to be able to play Operations, which are the PvE endgame for much people. But I would recommend you subscribe at least once, this way you will be able to reach max level (80) and you will unlock permanently all other expansions till date. Among many other things.

As Fiannma points out free players get a lot of free content they can play through before having to worry about a sub to unlock the max level cap and the rest of the current content.

F2p can also do various Flashpoints in addition to the other free content.

Thanks for the Comment guys. I Appreciate it.
Sure thing, you got a lot of fine content just as the story (which is the best side of the game), and there is not much a real reasons to go to the endgame. As F2P you will have access to dozens and dozens of story content hours, and if you need more, just a single sub for one month will unlock all the rest of the content forever.

But, even F2P - it's hella a lot of content, and basic stories are the best in the game, just find which you feel the best work personally for you and have fun, from 8-th of them, sure thing you will find 1 or 2 that suit you best. For me, it was just like a fine singleplayer game, with online possibility. :praisesun:

Well at least until the Servers shut down at least. That's one unfortunate thing about MMOs.

I wouldn't want to play without subscription, but if you have never played through the class stories, it is very much worth it.

Paying for subscriptions keep servers from shutting down.

if you like to solo or coop play throught a bunch of story content definetly YES
if you want access to ALL of the story, pay a sub for ONE month and you get almost everything up to that month

setup up official swtor authenticator app on your phone. You get 100 cartel coins a month. don't even have to log on. Like I quit for over 2 years and decided to reinstall and had over 2k cartel coins waiting for me.

by the time you buy all the F2P unlocks you could have sub'd at 80% the cost.

biggest problem with F2P is your 1mil Limit and the need for Escrow Certs.. more costs.

I say to you a one secret, just don't tell anyone, ok?

- "Every MMO will be eventually closed and servers shut down... But this is not a reason to deny yourself the fun of a game."

That's it. Utilma Online, was shut down, but many got wonderful stories about how they play and had fun, later servers were got up once more and today the game runs the same Broadsword as SWTOR and they little by little have kept the game alive since 2014 (not bad for a "dead" game).

Or even Sims Online, EA shut down the game... After was unofficial server created, which was shut down too (there was a terrible administration I may say, their fault), but another unofficial server now successfully live and many players who played in original Sims Online playing and having fun today, with extra wonderful stories how they had fun too on original release.

Even we all eventually die (not me, I intended to live FOREVER!:jackofblades:), but this is not a reason to, again, deny yourself the fun to do something... Except then make excuses such as "It will eventually close/dead/broken" itself give you joy to stay home and do nothing. :UnamusedOwlcat:

Personally, I have two beautiful but not popular much MMO RPG experiences from 2004 to 2012, which are closed... And I glad what I had fun at the time, it was unique experiences, and stories that I had then, are forever in my heart, and even if games are closed, I do not regret anything... Well, maybe a little, but more with nostalgia than true regret, which is good.
Lol. Yes ...it's free

it comes down to costs. why this game won't go away as it's operated by a skeleton crew indie company as a side project for ea.
Just buy 1 month of sub to unlock all story up to the latest xpac and play for free after.
I have not played a in a long while, created a new Character - they have changed the creation process - it seems bland now. I mean, "Choose your Species" section - no explanation of the species what their names are, any background info, just icons. Pure laziness in my opinion.

I logged into my old main, and half the ability bars are empty? So, I go find out that they pruned a lot of the abilities. Now, some people like this, good for you - but personally, I hate it. It just shows or directs me to believe they wanted to dumb down the game-play to make it more easier. Wow did this near the end of Pandaria and I hated it, stopped playing.

All in all, my experience was not fun; the game has changed and not for the better. I hate only having like 6/7 abilities to use, it gets boring.
