Character overhaul has made the game unplayable
I have loved SWTOR more than any other game for years now. I've poured well over $1000 into it through subscriptions and buying & unlocking all the outfits for my characters. I have 60+ characters across two servers who I would play as daily. This game was my second life.

Until the graphics overhaul.
Now it makes me physically sick just opening the main menu and seeing the atrocities committed against my characters' pretty features. Their face is an entirely different colour to their body. Their neck has a seamline. Their skin is blotchy like they have a mild case of vitiligo. There's nothing subtle about it, and it certainly isn't an improvement. All my characters, who were supposed to be early-20's initiates just beginning their galactic adventures, now look like they have 3 teenage kids and pay child support. I can see their ribs on some of them. The Chiss look like they decided to try blackface but stopped halfway. I can't even look at my Sith Warrior anymore because what was once a decently handsome but scarred young man has now become an angry Easter Island head with a swollen lip.

The new devs have demonstrated they have zero respect for and even less understanding of our wonderful game through inept decisions and "improvements" nobody asked for. Literally all anyone wants is more story. Not for you lot to come and smear ash and wrinkles all over our character's faces and do away with the endearing art style we've grown to know and love. NOBODY ASKED for an "update" to our character appearance. We LIKED it how it WAS. You didn't "improve" anything, you only nerfed characters we've all put a lot of time and money into making look exactly how they did. Imagine if Skyrim decided to do an update and make every player's character look like a variation of Yoda. Not such a clever idea now, is it?

I can't play my favourite game because you ruined it for me.
At least give us an option in settings to revert to the old textures or use your awful "modernised" textures. Respect the style of the game. Stop colonising our fun with your business-like attitude. And go kiss a gundark while you're at it.

No dev is reading this forum. It would also be less presumptuous of you to write what YOU don't like instead of what WE don't like considering that the perceived aesthetics of the game and its characters is very much subjective.

I don't see it that way now. Most of the time it's just a matter of inflexibility to adapt to change. Personally, I think the changes are very good and I don't have any of the problems you have.
Now if the horrible craft is revised, space combat finally gets sensible flight physics and then an Realm versus Realm system is introduced, then I'm even considering taking out a permanent subscription...

Wait what? You've put a thousand dollars into this garbage? Man that's just sad xD
i though id hate it. but apart from the Chiss still looking blotchy im good with it. apart from continue playing or stop playing there is very little i can do about it anyway.
Common Knowledge for this game, when we did Alpha and Beta they used HD graphics, it released with LD graphics because too many were using laptops and complained the graphics was too high for their crappy laptops.. Now it's a new graphic engine change, UE5+ makes all the graphics crap, just look at every game that was created with UE5+.

Not really... If you've been subbing since day one and never canceling, you can easily soak well more than 2 grand into it. Of course that doesn't include money spent on CCs used for CM purchases and item collection unlocks.

Good thing it's not P2W and makes its revenue off of playing Space Barbie. 😛

They are not done with the character graphics. They said they will have more to say in the February livestream: https://forums.swtor.com/topic/937991-post-76-character-modernization/page/62/#findComment-9841603
Just because the Graphics got changed dosent mean its unplayable.

Sounds like a very much you problem, bud. Been playing almost daily since I came back to finish the class stories a year ago, and have not had an issue playing the game.

I can't tell any difference with my characters. Wouldn't even know about this overhaul if it weren't for people crying about it. Got toons of every race and they all look the same as they did 10 years ago to me.

So maybe people need to rethink their life priorities if they get thus bent out of shape over pretty much nothing.

Go read the SWTOR forums. I realise now the Steam community is just not it when it comes to SWTOR. In the dedicated forums EVERYONE is up in arms about this and we just want the wrinkles gone, the facial structures returned to what they were and most of all a toggle to make these changes optional.

The official forums are constantly up in arms about everything and anything, especially when the devs dare to add or change something, because it's the favorite pastime of the players that write there since the game is not what they expect it to be at. It's compounded by the fact that you can only write there if you have a running subscription, so the vast majority feels like they have bought their superior status over the casual F2P peasants and thus their opinion is worth more, which is demonstrated by the way you talk about the Steam community.

In terms of general graphics like the enviroments game has never looked this good, water specially!. But yes I have to agree about the characters. Depending on what complexion, makeup or mask you use it's not noticeable but they do look older. And some of the VA's don't sound old so it's kinda annoying. But what they did to the Chiss is the worst part. No matter what skin tone you pick they simply look dirty. Hope they fix this stuff soon

Yes, dirty is exactly it. My blue Togruta's skin looked like she had been rubbing newspapers all over herself with the strange grey-black mottling.

The darker yellow tone also looks a bit grimy overall, but it's not patchy like the blue one,

Incorrect again. Not everyone is up in arms about this, even on the official forums.
