Legacy Of Sith Changing Class
I'm sure this has been asked before but I want to know if I can change my pyro BH I have now over to a mercenary BH when the expansion drops. As I've played I would much rather prefer the class change.

I think if you're subbed yes but if you're f2p/preferred then you have to make new toon but not 100% on that.

actually from what I read, the devs said due to some problems won't be able to change your original class such as can't go from powertech to merc, but could have merc as the second class if you're a sub...
but, with the push back to February, they might be able to fix this issue

Could you explain? I am a sub. Is this available now or when the expansion drops?

its all part of 7.0

So far, existing characters won't be able to change their current class/combat style, they will only be able to pick a 2nd one.

As far as I understand the delay is to allow them time to polish the expansion. Changing existing player class may or may not fit within the scope of that, depending on how much spaghetti code player class is buried under. I don't know how much (or even if) SWTOR development is hampered by it, but a certain other flagship AAA MMO has a long history of "can't do that without breaking everything" lol.

There is one major exception, though. If you have a Force character that has earned alignment points towards the opposite side, you will be given the one-time chance to swap to the opposite alignment equivalent for your primary Combat Style when you log in after 7.0 is out. For example, a Jedi Guardian with dark side alignment can swap to Sith Juggernaut as his primary Combat Style for good and pick a different one as the second Combat Style as long as you are a subscriber.

The important thing is that the existing Force character must have at least 1 point towards the opposite alignment BEFORE the expansion is out in february.

That's cool to know, though, because it suggests it's probably possible to allow a switch for tech classes, too.

My understanding is that they don't want to do it for tech classes They are not allowing tech classes to change their first advanced class, only add a second one.

Correct, Tech classes will not get the chance to swap their primary Combat Style.
