Some people were fine with it.
Some people hated it and quit.
Some people didn't like it but later got used to it and kept playing.
It will be the same here. There's going to be a lot of angry players who will quit, but also some people who are okay with it or get used to it. When I looked at my characters, I found it hit and miss. Some of my characters looked fine while others looked worse. I think they will continue tweaking it -- some of the worst problems will get fixed (like blotchy Chiss skin) -- but it's never going to be the same as before. I will probably be in that third camp, not liking it in many cases but eventually getting used to it.
Edit: I looked more at those screenshots and most of them are from the first iteration. They released an update on PTS that improved things for most characters. In particular, wrinkles have been reduced or removed, muscle definition is back for the bare-chested men. It's still not perfect, but I think the second iteration was a lot better.
I don't think they pay attention to these discussion forums. Posting here is more in the line of non-paying players asking for help since you have to have an active sub to post on the official forums.

This was / is the same for LotRO since they're upgrading characters models a race at a time. I put up with the Human change a while back and all those with Elf characters are now putting up with it.
And YES it's a downgrade for anyone with an existing character since there's no way to tweak your characters looks back to how they were.
I know it's a shame. I'm just letting more people know here in the steam forums because no one here would know unless they followed the game online yt, forums, reddit etc. maybe it will help a bit. Idk what the hell is wrong with some game devs these days... just reminds me of typical politicians i'm guessing they don't even play their own game.
Every game I play on Steam that's gone through any sort of model update has had this exact thread posted in their subforum and it has never once been even remotely as bad as the doomer claimed.
The models/meshes are unchanged. Just look it up and then have your own opinion. I wouldn't post for no reason.. and hey they may yet fix this as part of it was apparently 'bugged' its on the test server so not yet final anyway.
They already changed the games art style for no reason before and left bugged character lighting for months have you noticed the weird line textures on female characters? It was released bugged and has been left unfixed for ages.
I did. You quoted it. Chicken Little. Henny Penny.
Much Ado About Nothing.
The main problem is some people get really attached to their characters and had spent a lot of time on getting them looking just right, only to have that look get tossed out the window.
I had my main looking as he did since 2009 and it was a big shock to see him looking totally different and it did put me off playing for a couple of month til I decided to come back and see if I could get him to look somewhat presentable I'd be comfortable enough to play him again.
