You can cope all you like by whining as though you matter, but the truth is none of you do.
swtor has always primarily been a pve focused game. They have never focused on pvp, ever. So no, a "shift" to pve didn't keep the game alive. The game has been bleeding its playerbase since 5.x with the "thrill of the hunt" and the complete abandonment of the MMO aspect of the game. It never recovered from the mess that was kotfe.
The games not dead, but its certainly not healthy either.
Nobody's pulled the dang plug yet.
SWTOR was always going to bleed players regardless, as all "WoW clones" do. The only difference is that it still hasn't died yet, like the other several dozen MMOs players either fairly or unfairly considered WoW clones. It's the focus on solo story content that differentiates SWTOR just enough to maintain a decent audience.
None of that equated to them focusing on pvp... PvP was widely ignored for years.
Why my brain don't work?
Having pvp content is not the same as focusing on it. This game ALWAYS focused more on pve. PvP was always treated as side content and its pretty obvious you started playing this game later in its life.
Semantics aside, I tire of digressing and you're making me cringe. PVP is dead and it won't "revive" SWTOR even if they did begin working on improving it.
