Those who asked "Is SWTOR dead?". Yes, it is.
This game is dead IMHO. The content they did release was laughable. Worse, PVP is still horribly unbalanced, with your only option being 4v4 or 8v8. This is why Warcraft has wiped the floor with SWTOR. Warcraft understood how much people enjoy PVP but wanted options. So we had 2v2, 3v3, 5v5 then rated BGs or open BGs. They had very fair/balanced pvp matches. SWTOR? NOPE!!! I see 4v4s with one side with 2 tanks, 2 healers and the other side 4dps. I see one team all in 343 gear, the other side at best, 335 with some as low as 317 gear. REALLY?! All this AI, all this work and they can't even balance the PVP matches? Why not take a page from Warcraft and put some serious efforts into making PVP attractive in this game? I want 2v2, 3v3, 5v5 queues. I do not want just 1 option for 4v4 and 8v8.

And people wonder why the game is not attracting new players? There's NOTHING attractive about it right now. And if Broadsword had a lick of sense, they'd go reach out to Blizzard and get educated.

Sounds like you should go play WoW

The game was always designed to be more of a narrative focused game. Developers spent over a decade trying to be "World of Warcraft but..." and it didn't work for any of them, mostly because WoW already exists.

There are less Pvp players out there than there are PvE players and SWTOR is a PvE focused game. Pvp might be dead in the game, but so what.

It's SWTOR's shift to PVE focus that has kept it alive. They abandoned trying to appeal to PVP players several years ago. If the game isn't already "Dead" dead by now, chances are it won't die any sooner if the still remaining PVPers are still unhappy.

You can cope all you like by whining as though you matter, but the truth is none of you do.

suggested new title: "Those who asked "Is SWTOR PVP dead?". Yes, it is."

2v2 or 3v3 would never work in swtor....ever. 4v4 was a horrible idea when they introduced it years ago and it forever destroyed the games class balance.

swtor has always primarily been a pve focused game. They have never focused on pvp, ever. So no, a "shift" to pve didn't keep the game alive. The game has been bleeding its playerbase since 5.x with the "thrill of the hunt" and the complete abandonment of the MMO aspect of the game. It never recovered from the mess that was kotfe.

The games not dead, but its certainly not healthy either.

It's not dead, it's still on life support. It can't breathe on its own, but it IS still breathing.

Nobody's pulled the dang plug yet.

PVP servers, ranked PVP, Huttball, PVP specific gear, and an attempt at open/zone PVP says otherwise. It may have been primarily PVE later, but there was a focus on PVP until they gave up on it.

SWTOR was always going to bleed players regardless, as all "WoW clones" do. The only difference is that it still hasn't died yet, like the other several dozen MMOs players either fairly or unfairly considered WoW clones. It's the focus on solo story content that differentiates SWTOR just enough to maintain a decent audience.

None of that equated to them focusing on pvp... PvP was widely ignored for years.

It's almost like they... shifted focus primarily to PVE.

Having pvp content is not the same as focusing on it. This game ALWAYS focused more on pve. PvP was always treated as side content and its pretty obvious you started playing this game later in its life.

Semantics aside, I tire of digressing and you're making me cringe. PVP is dead and it won't "revive" SWTOR even if they did begin working on improving it.

I mean they literally opened it wide up for f2p and preferred and it still didn't do a whole lot lol
