quest "deconstruction 336 prototype"

The quest ""deconstruction 336 prototype"" from Hyde and Zeek.
Can see that websites say you must use an ear piece.

Can you not use a level 340 focus? , or it MUST be an ear piece
will hate to deconstruct if it didn't work :)

If you have a 340 item, get the 340 Prototype mission. 336 Prototype mission would require exactly 336 item. Don't want to waste your 340 for nothing.

No, you don't have to use the ear piece. That's just one of the cheaper items to upgrade with FP-1s, so it's faster to get one to 340. I think these are all equally cheapest: Ear, Relics, Implants, Belt, Bracers.
