SWTOR freezing my pc
At first I thought this was an issue with my pc being outdated or so, it was 5 years old. I bought a new pc with better graphics, ram and all and it's not even a week old and SWTOR locked up my entire pc and I had to hold the power button til it turned off.

After some research I learned this wasn't just me and it's some kinda issue in the game that started back in Jan-Feb ish and the SWTOR team is aware of this. What I wanted to ask is if there are any plans anyone knows of to fix this, or if the team just gave up? I post my playthroughs to youtube and I just lost a whole 30 minute clip is why I am asking. I need to know if I need to put this content on hiatus and come back later or not.

The devs don't check this forum, You're better off checking here: https://forums.swtor.com/forum/188-bug-reports/

I know the devs don't check the forums, but I also wasn't trying to ask the devs anything. I was asking other players, here if they had heard anything since the people who post here are more then likely playing and possibly have the same issue. lol

I thought you wanted to know if they were still working on it. Since none of us work at Broadsword or Bioware, we wouldn't know.

Because the issue isn't just me, so I thought someone reading this might have read up more on it or saw or heard something I didn't. Just because I haven't found the answer doesn't mean someone else has not, or might know. You don't have to work at the company to keep tabs on something XD

If you don't know that's fine, I can just wait to see if anyone else has heard anything.

I've never heard of this issue or at least never had problems with the game, do you have the link where they say they're aware of it?

https://forums.swtor.com/topic/932345-game-update-74-chains-in-the-dark-updates/

there are a few mentions here and also in this next link, and the second one makes it look like it could have started in Jan. I was also told to uninstall from steam and download from SWTOR site and thy this.

It sounds like you may have the 100% CPU usage issue.

You could try this:

Sometimes my games, by default, try to run off the integrated graphics card. Which is bad

You can set the Graphics Card for an .exe. Right click on desktop -> Display Settings -> Graphic Settings. Browse for application and options and choose performance setting

If that isn't it, then maybe this rather lengthy guide may have some information that could help you with your specific problem:

Thanks, but I know for sure it's not my pc. Because I bought a brand new pc and it's having the same issues, I did uninstall from steam and download from the swtor site and so far it seems to be working. There could be some conflict between steam and the game, not sure but I counted out issues with my own pc when I buy a new one and the issue stays the same lol

It's still happening today

It might also be you need to change the compatibility version on the SWTOR launcher.exe file. I know i had problems with it freezing on my loading screen before i figured that one out.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars - The Old Republic

right click on launcher.exe

click on compatibility tab

if its not already, click the box marked 'Run this app in compatibility mode for: Win 7'

Hopefully that helps.
