Onslaught ending

My Jedi knight has been offered to join Republic with Odessen as member world and will make me part of Task force Nova. (Im assuming joining task force nova will get me seat at Jedi council, my title as battlemaster)

I dont want to join republic but I want to join building Jedi order.

If I decline the offer and stay independent as alliance, will I lose the option to be on jedi council?
