Translate texts into spanish

Hello Jedi Masters, Sith Masters and young padawans.
I have always been a Star Wars fan and I have been waiting a long time for a translation of this game to at least know the story. We are in 2024, now there are multiple AIs and I think it would not be so complicated and expensive to translate the texts into several languages ​​so the community would be much larger and stronger. Do you think it will be very difficult to use AI to translate texts in a game?

siempre he sido fans de star wars y llevo mucho tiempo esperando una traducción de este juego para al menos saber de la historia. estamos en el 2024 ahora existe múltiples IA y pienso que no seria tan complicado y costoso traducir los textos a varios idiomas así la comunidad se haría mucho mas grande y fuerte. que pensáis sera muy difícil usar la IA para traductor los textos de un juego?

Getting a new language localization for a game is way more complicated than just changing a few words or adding some text into a database.
Not going to happen.

I thought that with the technological advances we are experiencing there might be something that would facilitate its translation. I will continue giving space in the cinematics and pressing the 1 button XD. I hope to enjoy the story one day.

The translation itself is not the issue, everything else that comes with it.
Timing in cutscenes for subtitles, word length and available space in game, words with several different meanings need localization testers to check how translations work ingame.

This is a monumental task for normal games but it insanely huge for mmos like swtor.
I had the pleasure to work on a couple of games and their translation and you would not believe how much work it is to support different languages.

An additional "problem" would be licensing a product as famous as Star Wars. Using the wrong word for a specific term could cause legal issues, even if the translation itself would be technically correct.

He always thought that translating a game cannot be an easy task. I was unaware of some aspects that have been described, such as that they may have legal problems due to errors in the translation. I thought that with time and the help of artificial intelligence they could be an option to strengthen the community. It is a great game that I think everyone should enjoy. Siempre pensé que traducir un juego no puede ser una tarea fácil. Desconocía algunos aspectos que se han descrito como por ejemplo que puedan tener problemas legales por errores en la traducción.
Pensaba que con el tiempo y las ayudas de la inteligencia artificial podrían ser una opción para fortalecer la comunidad.

At this point if swtor doesn't have a language it's not gonna get it, with all the cutscenes and voice over it's just way too much work

This game will never have a Spanish translation. Its over 10 years old, if they were going to do so, they would have done it by now. "Best" case scenario is they compromise and leave it in English VA and translate just the text, but I still don't see that happening.

yo considero que si se puede traducir el juego, pero claro llevara tiempo y mucho trabajo de muchas personas, de las cuales no trabajaran gratis, entiendes?. Una IA no podrá traducir nunca un juego entero. Una traducción tendría que a ver empezado hace 5 años atrás, ahora mismo es imposible ya que no renta pagar a gente que lograran una traducción en mínimo 2 años. Te aseguro que te sale a ti mas barato aprender ingles en 6 meses que esperar a que este juego lo traduzcan... O esperar a un software de traducción en tiempo real que funcione en este juego... O que el juego cambie su motor gráfico y aprovechen para colocar mas idiomas, cosa que lo veo menos probable.

Es curioso, ¿no tienes programadores entusiastas? Yo uso un programa que sustituye el texto del juego por mi texto nativo. Tiene más de 5 años. Es compatible con el ruso y el ucraniano. Hablé con el autor del programa y me dijo que también es posible añadir otros idiomas. Incluso he puesto a uno de tus amigos (hispanohablantes) en contacto con el autor del programa. Thank you all for your contribution. I simply created this thread because I thought that with the help of new technologies the game could be made available with its substitutes in Spanish and other languages. I thought it would be something easier, the voices are not something that worries me but I will have to play it like this and little by little learn.

Gracias a todos por su contribución. Simplemente creé este hilo porque pensé que con la ayuda de las nuevas tecnologías el juego podría estar disponible con sus subtitulo en español y otros idiomas. Pensé que sería algo más fácil, las voces no es algo que me preocupe pero tendremos que jugar así y poco a poco ir aprendiendo.

Para ser claros, Este juego no va a ser traducido al castellano por la desidia del publisher (EA), que ha demostrado no tener la voluntad de hacerlo, y no porque técnicamente sea complicado, o por otras imbecilidades que han nombrado nuestros amigos angloparlantes en este hilo.
La prueba de que sí se puede la tenemos en que MMOs muy viejos como EVE Online o TESO, han terminado traduciendo y/o doblando el contenido al español.
Que traducirlo es rentable, lo demuestran otros títulos como New World, que no solamente lo ha traducido, sino que ha realizado un excelente trabajo de doblaje.
MMOs como nuestro querido SWTOR o por ejemplo Rift, no han traducido ni siquiera la UI del juego, lo que demuestra la dejadez y el desprecio del publisher no sólo hacia el español, sino hacia otras comunidades que a diario tienen un importante número de jugadores online. En fin...
