Can't create an account for my wife.
My wife and I wanted to play together. She was interested after watching me play. I know she'll probably love the game even more than me but, we can't even get as far as installing it. She tries to create an account and all she gets is "Your e-mail address is invalid or unavailable.". Ooookay. That's nice and doesn't help us at all. We know it's "valid" because it's her e-mail. She uses it all the time. It wasn't entered incorrectly or anything. So that leaves "unavailable". Wtf does that even mean though? I tried contacting customer support but, apparently, YOU NEED AN ACCOUNT! So yeah, ♥♥♥♥ you right back EA.

I don't really expect any help, honestly. I'm making this for two reasons. First, because it's a bit cathartic and two, because I want at least SOMEONE to know that something is broken and us little people at the bottom have no way of even asking for help. Except through Steam. Thank god for Steam :)

Did you validate the email ? The easy way is to do it over here https://account.swtor.com/user/validate/initiate

You actually get this error message when there is already an account created for that email address.

Whether done yourself or someone else erroneously, the problem is still the same.

If it is a gmail address, you can play with a "." inbetween, or add something with a + sign ("Eyesuck+swtor@gmail.com" would go to the mailbox from "Eyesuck@gmail.com", as would "Eye.suck@gmail.com").

Any other way... Sorry. Maybe create a new emailaddress for this purpose only?

Do you already have EA accounts? I think SWTOR accounts are all linked to an EA account these days, meaning if you try to create a new SWTOR account, but there is already an EA account with that email it wouldn't work. If you have EA accounts, just use the login for those accounts instead of trying to create a new account.

Thanks guys. This was actually my first thought too. But, no. It's pretty clear that someone has used her e-mail to create an account without her permission. I honestly have no idea how to fight that. I tried contacting EA's customer support using my account but, you can probably guess how that went. :-/

Just simply search in the email for all contacts from EA/SWTOR and or use email to get the account. Also you might want to say what the email source is as its possible some reason EA dont like it. From there maybe talk to support if you feel bad. Could also try creating a EA/origin account then using that. (It could be a browser error so could also try incognito mode to ensure all browser data is fresh while creating it and or deleting browser data or using another browser)

I find that unlikely unless it was done by mistake because you get get account verification sent to the email you register under and if she hasn't seen anything like that (assuming she checks that email regularly) then it might just be something about the account server being glitched.

Anyway, if there truly is an account made with her email address then go to log in, but select that you lost your password, put in the email, and a link to make a new password will be sent to the email if there is an account tied to it.

Also, why not just make a new email account and use that?

Yeah. Preaching to the choir here. It defies all logic but, all I know is what I see. Honestly what frustrates me the most is the absolute silence from EA. We're probably gonna have to make her a Hotmail account or something if we wanna play and, honestly, I don't know that it's even worth it.

On another note, I can't believe I didn't think to try the password recovery. Thanks! Definitely gonna give that a go and see what happens. Gonna have to do everything myself since my wife is already beyond frustrated with this. LoL :P
*sigh*
Try reseting the password for that email... if that does not work then the mail is NOT USED

After that try to make an account ON THE FRACKING SWTOR PAGE, NOT EA! EA HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BIOWARE ACCOUNT!

Next step is logging into it via Steam, so you have an easier time buying cartell coins/gametime.

And dont give me any **** now! Its all COMMON SENSE, People just FAIL to use it!
