Can I queue for group to play story flashpoints?
I don't mind fighting 20+ enemies at a time with useless droid on my side, but I don't feel like playing flashpoints for nearly an hour. Can I play story flashpoints with a group or it's only for solo play?

1. Accept the mission from the NPC with the Purple Triangle above his head. You get 2 new quests in your quest log (open using L). The purple one telling you about the mission and one called "[STORY] (name of the flashpoint".

2. Open the Mission Log click on the [STORY] one and abandon it.

3. Open the Flashpoint queue tool (minimap symbol lower right hand on your screen, then on the upper right corner of that minimap symbol).

4. Click on Veteran or Master mode flashpoint, depending on your perference. Make sure that only the selector for Veteran or Master is highlighted.

5. In the lower right corner of that window, you can choose which flashpoints you actually want to play. Toggle selection to deselect them all, then only select the one you are currently trying to queue for. if the Flashpoint is not in the list, go back to the Mission Log and make double sure that you deleted the [STORY] Flashpoint mission, because you cannot queue for Veteran or Master Mode for this particular Flashpoint if you have the story version as a mission.

6. Joint the queue, get a group and do the story flashpoint step with a group.

Flashpoints can be done in 3 difficulty levels: Story, veteran and master.

"Story" is basially a solo version of what used to be a group activity. You get that battle droid to tank for you and you essentially have 2 "pets", the one you normally have and the battle droid.

"Veteran" is basically a simple version of the group dungeon and the "original" level-based dungeon. Different Flashpoint unlock at different character levels and you can play veteran Flashpoints of your level and lower (if you play lower level FPs you get level adjusted). Veteran FPs require 4 players of whatever role (tank, healer, dd doesn't matter), at every "boss" encounter there are various clickable heal-stations that provide healing in case there is no healer in the group and they are generally fairly easy to do. They are probably what you're looking for, a group version of the story flashpoint.

"Master" Flashpoints require a Tank, a Healer and 2 DDs, there are no healing stations at the boss encounters and all boss mechanics are in full effect. They are targeted for level 75 players with matching equipment.

Damn it, that sucks. Yeah, I've done several veteran flashpoints already. I was talking exactly about story FPs that you get from quest givers with purple icon over them. I'm just not sure if completing them is required for main story or not, but if it is, I'm kinda forced into pretty boring hour-long walkthrough without other players.

Veteran is just a difficulty level, like Fly said. You do not have to do the purple FPs solo.

Also they are not required, but some story things will make more sense if you do them.

Uhm, then I don't get it, where can I find a veteran version of particular FP? For example, last time I got "Directive 7" FP

Of course, my first thought was to check "Group" tab if I can queue for that FP there, but it was missing in filters. Now, after I've done it solo it showed up.

Sorry if I'm missing something here, I get lost in these tabs easily

If that is your question then No!
Story is for solo play
Veteran is for group and people are mostly rushing through it so dont do it if you want to enjoy the story and the cutscenes cause people already know them by hard and skip them.
Master is then when you are already at higher gear. I'd say 300-ish.

Hmmm I just logged on the my highest level character, and I have quite a few available Veteran FPs that I never did.

EDIT
Thanks for giving a better answer Rebecca, it seems my memory of grouping was incorrect.

Alright, thanks everyone!

You can actually do the veteran version and get credit for the Purple mission for the lower level flashpoints. If it says {STORY} you can abandon and pick up the {VETERAN} version from the NPC near the flashpoint entrance. This works well if you want to play with friends or guild mates. However, later story flashpoints are actually a fourth type called if I remember {SOLO-STORY}. These ones must be done solo because they include special story cutscenes instead of just being a normal flashpoint with low health enemies. Basically, Bioware did something different in the newer stories for flashpoints, so some story mode flashpoints can be replaced with a veteran and still get credit while other story mode flashpoints cannot be replaced. In general, just stick to doing them solo to avoid any confusion.

Yes. Flashpoint is intended for Group Play. You may right click your portrait to set your preferred mission difficulty.

Most players use the Group Finder, though, the first button on the left of map, to form Veteran Mode group. It even teleports you to the flashpoint. (If you were in combat at the moment, click the group finder again after combat to fly.)

The Story Mode where you solo, is just a taster to let you get familiar with the map and enjoy the story.

Many veteran players queue veteran flashpoints during level up, part of the reason why it is almost always full dps. They are also a good environment for tanks and heals to learn the ropes, from around mid 20 when you get most basic abilities.

Master flashpoints are for high level grinding, like farming gear and conquest. Efficiency and everyone doing *more* than their job is the norm. Expect to be vote kicked if you cannot catch up. Like if you keep triggering avoidable mobs and keep attacking soft CC'ed adds. Healers and tanks need to know what they are doing. No one ask to watch the story in master mode, for obvious reasons.

If you ask nicely, most veteran groups will allow you to not spacebar through the story. If you ask very nicely they may also teach you things to watch out for in a boss fight.

Because not all Flashpoints have a story mode, thanks to design or mechanic that is difficult to solo. Kuat Drive Yard, Lost Island, Colicoid War Game etc. The first two can take up to an hour for a master player to solo (difficult but is possible), while the later must be done in a group due to the corridor puzzle.

I tried it and it worked! Thanks for such detailed answer!
