Afaik this happens with dynamic IPs.
Yeah, it is annoying.

Use security key (similar to Steam Guard) and you won't have to wait for one-time password

Yes, this is annoying, I have this too (using the SWTOR launcher, not Steam's). Besides, this code takes sometimes around 3-5 minutes to arrive, while ALL other codes from my different Web sites come immediately and SWTOR is the only game asking for that kind of code.

I suspect that switching off my modem every night is causing this "one time" password issue because it only asks it for my first log-in every day.

As Lashows suggested, you could get a security key from a mobile app, but I had painful moments with double authentication (for my work) so I personally won't try this and won't battle EA support in case of trouble.

Yep, you dont have a static IP so it treats every new IP as a new device.

Why do you shut your modem off every night?

Short answer: it's useless for me at night.

Basically, to save up electricity (judging by how hot modems and routers are, they surely use a lot of power) for the environment and my electricity bill, for security reason (total disconnection from the Internet), to avoid storm damage (you go to bed when the sky is clear and you wake up at 4 a.m. with lightnings all over the place), to avoid wrong and even right phone calls (if someone from my family is hurt, I don't really see me driving at night to rush to an hospital).

A good rule is to have switches to turn off every useless devices at night, standby mode is only a few watts... but multiply several devices x 9 hours x 365 days...

Yup it's annoying and probably one of the many reasons the game is on life support. Doesn't help that it can take up to 15 minutes to receive the email.

Game has been on life support since 2012 to read the steam forums.

So what Electric Nine got out of jail long enough to post 3 hours ago and then get rebanned? lol

https://www.swtor.com/info/security-key

This has been right there under where you enter your display name and password the whole time. It's incredibly easy to set up and you'll receive 100 cartel coins each month. :lilimok:

...and you can use any modern authenticator (I use Google Authenticator) instead of the outdated Star Wars one ^^
