Yeah, it is annoying.
I suspect that switching off my modem every night is causing this "one time" password issue because it only asks it for my first log-in every day.
As Lashows suggested, you could get a security key from a mobile app, but I had painful moments with double authentication (for my work) so I personally won't try this and won't battle EA support in case of trouble.
Short answer: it's useless for me at night.
Basically, to save up electricity (judging by how hot modems and routers are, they surely use a lot of power) for the environment and my electricity bill, for security reason (total disconnection from the Internet), to avoid storm damage (you go to bed when the sky is clear and you wake up at 4 a.m. with lightnings all over the place), to avoid wrong and even right phone calls (if someone from my family is hurt, I don't really see me driving at night to rush to an hospital).
A good rule is to have switches to turn off every useless devices at night, standby mode is only a few watts... but multiply several devices x 9 hours x 365 days...
Might have been a record!
This has been right there under where you enter your display name and password the whole time. It's incredibly easy to set up and you'll receive 100 cartel coins each month.
