Then email them with all the information at support@swtor.com.
Secondly as the subscription is hit and miss via Steam always log into your SWTOR account at https://www.swtor.com/?c=X6-O533903822 and get the subscription there.
stupido. why even have the option to sub thru steam when the buyer has to go through extra hoops just to get what he paid for.
Because some players have conflicting Email addresses when they are trying to create a new account but already have old Origin/EA accounts.
i literally couldnt sub through their website when i was gonna sub through steam. went to the forums, found the post for this where people were getting help from support, gave them my user name, and they reset what ever they needed to.
apparently old accounts had some kind of issue when they moved to the new system. if i was not clear, blame EA.
Edit: go here https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Technical/Can-t-Subscribe-to-SWTOR/td-p/10480955
Just sub through swtor.com in future, saves a headache.
SWTOR Support will add the subscription once you provide all the information they asked for.
TEN SECONDS.

Long story short: emailed support@swtor.com
did ticket with steam: step not needed, because they tell you that transaction looks good and i should have my stuff, possible comm issue between swtor environment steam environment.
went back to support@swtor.com and they looked at the account and wanted me to follow some directions: https://help.ea.com/za/help/star-wars/star-wars-the-old-republic/swtor-on-steam/
Did these exact steps:
I subscribed, but the game still thinks I’m not a subscriber
If you were logged into the game when you subscribed, try quitting the game entirely and logging back in again. Your subscriber status should update on a new login. If it doesn’t, check your email for a receipt from Steam to make sure your subscription payment went through successfully.
If it did, and you’re still not showing as a subscriber in-game, follow these steps to get help:
Go to your Steam purchase history:
Log in to the Steam client
Click on your username at the top right.
Choose Account Details.
Take a screenshot of your entire account details page, clearly showing your Steam account name and Steam ID number.
Steam account browser page showing the required account details.
These screenshots must be unedited so we can verify your account details without having to ask you for more information or additional screenshots.
Click on View Purchase History.
Take a screenshot of your entire Purchase History screen, clearly showing the SW:TOR transaction.
Steam Purchase History browser page showing a SWTOR transaction.
Click in to the transaction, and screenshot that page too.
Contact SW:TOR support and be ready to send through the screenshots when you’re asked for them.
sent them over to support@swtor.com, got this message:
Hi there,
Thanks for contacting the Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ Customer Service.
I’m sorry your purchase through Steam didn’t go smoothly, I’ll do what I can to make this right for you.
I've just reviewed your screenshots and I am happy to inform you that I have added 60 days of gametime along with 550 cartel coins to your SWTOR account. You will also receive 500 additional cartel coins in 30 days.
If you purchased a recurring subscription on Steam, please note that you will have to cancel it manually, otherwise you will face the same issue on the next renewal date.
To do so, please follow the steps below:
1. Open the Steam client and log into your account
2. Click on your username at the upper right-hand corner, then select "Account details"
3. In the "Store & Purchase history" section, click on "Manage subscriptions"
If you wish to renew your subscription in the future, you will be free to do so through Steam or via our official website. Both methods should work from now on.
To prevent your EA account from being disabled again in the future, I would kindly suggest that you turn on EA Login Verification: https://help.ea.com/en/help/account/ea-login-verification-information/
Feel free to contact us again if you have any other issue that we can help you with, or visit our support site: http://help.ea.com
Thanks again for contacting the Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ Customer Service.
We would love to hear your feedback on our Customer Service and invite you to fill out the survey which will help us to continually improve our support!

Did a survey for Julien because Julien took care of me quick.... logged into game... noticed i was a subscriber and played game.
i may try the steam thing again, but if it botches, i'll use these steps again, probably skip the steam ticket part, but ensure my screens are in so i can get took care of more efficiently. -PiffleSmyte.
Not sure how subscriptions work via STEAM but make sure to check your Account Status and that your subscription has been cancelled in the main website.
Otherwise, you might lose more money every month.
