STAR WARS™: The Old Republic™

STAR WARS™: The Old Republic™

Been playing this for 10 years. Where are all the players?
I started playing this game in 2012. I've played all content except the latest expansion packs.
I would on and off get on the game, play the pack, leave, etc.

I remember playing this from 1-50 as a F2P and grinding my ass to unlock all the stuff subscribers had because i was broke AF and i did it.

Anyways, this is just for context.

Throughout my decade playing this game, i've always seen at least 100 players on the faction hubs (the Republic/Imperial fleets)

I would see, at any moment, at least 30 players on every planet, maybe less on weird planets but still a sizeable amount to meet people in random locations.

Queues wouldn't take more than 5 minutes for DPS, either on PVP or PVE.

Now i started my 102190219th run as a Sith Warrior and i see nobody, nowhere?

12 players max on Korriban, maybe 20 on Dromund Kass, not even 50 on the IF?

But Steam says there are 5K players Online.

Where the hell are they?

I'm playing on the most populated NA East server as well.

Even when my server was on NA West and the merge hadn't happened, we had tons of players.

So where the hell is everyone?? Is everyone max level already?

The game feels dead A.F and i have no idea why?? I even turned off the chat just so i could play the game as if it was KOTOR because honestly it doesn't feel like a MMO in the slightest.

lol yeah i should've guessed your intelligence before posting, no point in arguing with someone who has no clue what they're talking about. As the saying goes you cant win an argument against an idiot. Have a nice day and enjoy the game Sigerette.

Thanks bud, i will, have a good day!
yeah, i apologize for this comment, not acceptable behavior.
Game is far from dead excepted if you're playing in the french/german server. (Maybe Satele Shan server is dead but I highly doubt about it.)

I tried so hard to get into restoration. It has been a lot of years since I had even seen a screenshot of SWG. I gotta say though once I logged in it hit me how bad that game has aged.

There's no reason to play SWG excepted nostalgia from old folks.

Vast majority of the players play this game as a singleplayer-RPG, and to be honest, that's the best way to play this game.
If you want some +120 hours worth of mediocre-to-alright Bioware stories, then SWTOR is the game for you. If you want to play a MMO, then it isn't the game for you.

When SWTOR one day inevitably closes its servers, i hope they find some way to keep it possible for players to play it by themselves, even if for just the story.

I hope so as well
Been subbed since late 2012.
While it is true that overall census is down, it's not anything close to the death spiral that closed TERA, and really still more than 3 times as many players as Star Trek Online or Neverwinter. Flashpoints still pop reasonably fast (under 2 minutes usually) so I will paraphrase Samuel Clemmons here: "Rumors of the game's demise have been greatly exaggerated."
reinstalling now

Yup.

Considering LotS revamped the entire combat/class system, I dont think there is too much to worry about. You dont overhaul major gameplay mechanics and systems for a game that is essentially dead.

You could make an argument its on life-support with the small amount of staff (I actually dont know how many people are working on the game, just that I hear its a very small number)... but dead? Lol.
I tried to play it again. Didnt realize I didnt remember how bad it was made.

As a 32 year old, this isn't true at all. Graphically, sure it doesn't look the best in 2022 (still looks way better than many MMOs of the time like EQ2, etc.), but systems-wise, it was lightyears ahead of its time to the degree that we haven't seen many of those same systems in contemporary MMOs since, if not a half-baked version. The game is honestly still unparalleled in crafting, housing/decorating, player cities, depth of player-driven economy, and the pre-level/class based skill system (Pre-NGE) to name a few.

By no means am I saying it is/was a perfect game and not trying to start a SWTOR vs SWG thing (I love both for different reasons), but to say there's no reason to like SWG except for nostalgia because you're old isn't a very well thought out argument lol. Across all it's most popular emulators (SWGEmu, Legends, Restoration, etc.), SWG has a higher overall active population than many currently live MMOs on the market including AAA MMOs. Legends server alone hits 2k players at peak almost daily. There's a lot to be said for that. After all these years, SWG still offers gameplay that other MMOs never have.
