Linking a Steam Account
I have been playing this game for several years. I would like to link my account to me Steam account, everything I've seen sends me to the EA site to unlink my account, but there is no option to link my existing account.

Please help

If the only option on the swtor site is to unlink an account, then perhaps you've already linked your steam account without realizing.

Nope, i just considered coming back myself (after a few years), and was wondering if installing the Stream client would be possible (much less of a headache). Logging into my account on the website just lists "Steam unlink" under "My SWTOR". Clicking on "Steam Unlink brings up : "There is no Steam account linked to your Star Wars™: The Old Republic account." (unsurprisingly...lol).

I guess you can "decouple" an account if you want, but not link one.

Linking happens automatically when you first type in the Account Details after you have started the game launcher through the Steam client.

I just noticed, thank you :D

Yeah, happens automatically. I have played this since the beta, and picked it up when it FINALLY released on Steam... and one day I logged in and got all of these achievements from my years of playing.
I play SWTOR on Steam and still run it as a non-Steam game for use of the overlay and haven't had any issues with linking. Just be sure the email used for your Steam account is the same as the one you registered with SWTOR and EA.

It’s the email , make sure you are using the same email that your steam and the website are the same . If it’s not the same it will not link together.
What do you do if you never played it through Steam, but through the SWTOR launcher that was downloaded from the SWTOR website?

I would suppose there would be no reason for it... especially if you have no intention of playing Steam's SWTOR. However, if you ever decide to, the option is there.

I would do nothing except playing through the game's own launcher. When you add a middle man to the process, you add the potential for more problems.
