The game doesn't start after pressing Play in the Launcher
The game won't start after I press play in the launcher.
I cannot use the client_settings.ini fix because my client_settings.ini file is empty.
The launcher logs indicate that the game is started by the launcher:
2021-07-03 15:01:16 INFO Game successfully launched: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars - The Old Republic\swtor\RetailClient\swtor.exe 2021-07-03 15:01:16 INFO Closed launcher
I have verified the integrity of game files through Steam
I have made sure that the process isn't running already in the background
I don't have a bitraider folder
I have tried restarting my PC
I have tried setting swtor.exe to run as an admin
I have tried setting swtor.exe to run in Compatibility mode with Windows XP SP3
Setting the Launcher to run as admin causes the launcher to restart itself without admin
I have tried disabling the Steam Overlay
I tried launching the game from it's swtor.exe executable
I tried launching the Launcher from its folder instead of Steam
My main monitor is an ultrawide (21:9 3440x1440) so I tried running it only with my secondary monitor (which is 16:9 1920x1080) but it still wouldn't launch.

Specs:
OS: Windows 10 Pro Version 21H1 build 19043.1081
CPU: i9-9900KF
GPU: RTX 3080 driver version 471.11

This was an issue when the game first came to Steam. Try this:

Close the launcher if it's still open. Open the task manager, find the running SWTOR process(es), and end it. Try the launcher again.

Alternatively, triggering a UAC prompt might make the swtor process un-hang. Both of these worked for me in the past. This issue would occur the first time I attempted to log in after a restart/shutdown.

I already mentioned that I checked and swtor.exe is NOT running. It automatically closes after it gets started by the launcher. I also already mentioned that I tried running it as an admin.

I suggested triggering a UAC prompt, as sometimes that just causes swtor.exe to unhang. I didn't mean run swtor as admin, but that would give you the prompt and probably fix the issue I was thinking of all the same.

At any rate, I missed the part where you said you already checked task manager, and since this particular issue doesn't seem to be the one you've got, I don't really have any other ideas. It's a headscratcher.

Go into the Star Wars The Old Republic Directory and go into the retailclient folder and right click swtor.exe click properties and then click the compatibility tab and set to run as administrator by the clicking the check box. Now run the game as normal from steam log in then you will be prompted with the run as admin yes or no hit yes. Done

So to clarify:

1. Go into the Star Wars Old Republic Folder (Where ever you installed it)
2. Go into the swtor folder then the retailclient folder!
3. Right clock the swtor.exe and set to run as administrator! (Under the Compatibility tab)
4. Make sure to apply or hit ok and close then launch Old Republic through steam normally!
5. Log in through the kotor launcher then hit play, you will be prompted to run as admin hit YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
6. If all went well your now Killing Bad guys with kill kill beam! Enjoy!

Notes: If that fails make sure you directx installed to the latest then try to launch again!

What worked for me was closing Steam (Need to end the whole Steam process through task manager for example) and then starting the game through a shortcut located on my desktop.

For some reason the game will launch normally after hitting play this way.
