Should I install SWTOR on my steam account?
I recently installed SWTOR on their website weeks ago and enjoyed it, but I was wondering if its worth installing SWTOR on steam since I found it was added. Should I add it to my steam library? Is there any benefits from playing through steam instead of downloading it directly from the website?

Even wrote a guide about how to get the Steam overlay working for players who use Steam to configure their controllers and to socialize with their Steam friends. (The guide also includes a fix for the resolution bug and removing BitRaider.)

Benefits for playing SWTOR on Steam is the achievements and trading cards, profile backgrounds and emoticons. Additionally, BitRaider is already disabled with the Steam version, so there is no worry about hanging updates.

The game is the same regardless but with playing on steam you get the usual features like achievements, trading cards and displaying game status and hours played thru your steam client.

Am I able to pay through steam when I want to buy something in SWTOR?

outside of easier installs and if you care about Steam achievements as it has those. You can also pay for the sub or the premium currency though I have seen some people say there is a delay to validating these so you won't get instant access like you do when going through the website.

Other than that the game is identical as you still connect to the same servers with the same credentials

i did the moment i had the chance days after it released on steam because of steam proton, this allows me to run the game through linux via steam. proton saves me the bother from having to run another emulator and typing out long hand command in the console.

Well, Cartel coins are what you need to buy things on SWTOR and you can purchase those thru steam (on main page).

You do need to have your SWTOR account linked to your steam account. It will ask you to verify before logging in thru steam. More details here:

Updates are faster through steam imo. Outside of that and having the steam overlay they are the exact same launchers.

Hey, I know its been a while, but I just wanted to ask another question. So i recently brought the subscription and I'm only planning to use it only once this month, if I cancel my subscription as soon as I brought the subscription, will my subscription still be active even if i cancel the recurring billing? As if the subscription I brought will still be active until it expires?

You already paid for the 30 days. It will be active till your time runs out.

YES.. faster download speeds
NO bitraider
NO stupid re-allocating
NO corrupted installation if you need to stop updates/downloads for it

I’d say it’s worth the steam installation just to be able to update the game in the background without having to login to the launcher every time.

Ya the launcher is way better on the steam version for sure.
